Standard Fit Alarm
I know using this forum is not the best place to ask this but:
Having recently got a 05 plate WRX I was told it has factory fit Thatch cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted standard, question is, the books with car mention nothing of an alarm, just the immobiliser.
Can someone tell me one way or the other please.

As long as the vehicle is a UK supplied car (ie has passed through the distribution centre of International Motors (Subaru UK), then the car will have a full Cat 1 alarm immobiliser system.
This can easily be checked visually on vehicles from 2002 on as the standard UK Cat 1 system will have spherical, colour matched sensors on the A-Pillars and the vehicles ignition key only has a single button to both lock and unlock the vehicle.
If the vehicles ignition key has two separate buttons to lock and unlock then it is likely to be an import and will not have the standard fit Cat 1. If this is the case, be aware that the factory immobiliser on it's own is not Thatcham Category 2 approved, so you will need a full Cat 1 system NOT a 2 to 1 upgrade.
