Alarm upgrade
Hello
Just took the plundge and upgraded my 04 for 05, want to know if it is possible to add as a seperate alarm a dual zone alarm and shock sensor. But still keeping the Sigma. Will it run side by side without effecting each other.
Thanks Andy

The Sigma system has an output on pin 3 of the alarm plug that supplies an earth when the system is armed. This pin will be empty on a UK car, but a wire can be added. This can then be used to activate the dual stage sensor with a switched input when the alarm is armed, either microwave or shock. The trigger output from the sensor (providing it is a negative output & they usually are) can be wired into the bonnet wire of the alarm to cause it to trigger. The only snag is the pre-warn output from the dual zone sensor - you will have to wire this output to a separate buzzer (again it should be a negative output) and the other side of the buzzer to a perm 12v, then locate the buzzer under the bonnet.
Not a difficult job and saves having to overwire another alarm system when the output is already there on the Sigma.

only problem will be the very limited current capability of a sensor neg output. usually it is extremely minimal, will not run anything like a siren or loud enough buzzer, some will not even power up a relay.
