I seem to remember reading somewhere that Scoobs (imprezas) like many cars today have security coded keys which must match something in the Engine Management system to disable the immobiliser.
Does anyone know more about this?
What do you need to do if the ECU is changed?

I had this done recently, when they fit the new ECU they then plug a monitor into the data port put the key in the on position and send a signal which matches the key and the ECU. I think you would have to get your dealership to do this.
Darren.
Also there are software cartridges that fit in the monitor for the different models and years.
