I'm about to get a new scoob. I phoned the insurance company (Norwich Union) the other day to check how much more it's gonna be than my existing 1, the only bone of contention is that the vehicle is fitted with a Cat1 alarm, and they require a Cat2, so the woman said I'd have to get it changed within 30 days of the policy starting.
I've been searching round to find out what the difference is, and from what I can gather a Cat2 alarm is acually not as good as a Cat1.
Can anyone confirm this?

You are correct in your belief that Cat 1 is better than cat 2. The only issue I came across was when I bought my first Scooby in '96, where it had a Cat 2 Immobiliser. But you could get an upgrade to make the whole alarm system Cat 1. I pretty sure that all Turbos post 98 had Cat 1 alarms as standard.

King-ra is spot on, ring them back up and speak to someone who knows what their talking about. If there's a Cat 1 on there already, there's no way you need a Cat 2 aswell.
