Clifford are crap...always have been...just people seem to "think" they are good.

I should know I fitted the pieces of crap for a living!

Yep Clifford are crap. I ditched my Concept 300 after a) it was replaced at 6months old due to total failure and b) started failing again at 2 years old. Now completely happy with my new system!

Seems to be some modification or special alarm for the Subaru WRX,
Ring to find out what you are getting, if it lets you down you are well and truly Blackjaxed

Midlife, for obvious reasons I won't post any information about my security measures. Lets just say its not clifford!

Ajax, how do you quantify "which is best?". My best may not be up to your expectations! I suppose the best one is the one that stops your car being nicked!

Just remembered I heard somewhere that Scoobs are supposed to have unstable electrical systems, whatever that means! Suppose thats why you have to get a modified unit?

mark@wrx

Best = works and does not go wrong all the time.

I did not ask what you had because of the security risk, thats why I asked the question that way.

Can anybody put any light what this Clifford C500 Blackjax Modified for WRX issue is all about, is it something to do with Subarus having unstable electronics ???

This is close to slanderous guys, keep it factual.

There is a modified version of some Clifford kit for Imprezas due to the excessive amount of electrical noise our cars chuck out.

To be honest, I thought this had been fixed a long time ago?

Well i have always had Cliffords fitted to all of my other cars and <touchs wood> never have had any problems unlike Sigma and Cobra's.
My WRX has the concept 500 which to date has been faultless

Bet my luck it will go and **** up now !!!!

That's beacuse Sigmas and Cobras are worse!

The amount of cars with those fitted which I've had to take out and replace for one reason or another.

Suppose....still better than Sparkrite (if they are still made)

So you remember them as well!!!.....how about the 'lovely' keypad that stuck on the inside of the glass and was labelled A & B...arm and unarming was done by passing a fob over the letters!!

I have heard the TOAD systems are good,i must admit i liked the idea of the interior smoke screen......do they do MUSTARD GAS refills??

I have been told today both by Clifford suppliers and RAM a special Modified version is required on the Subaru WRX, and they both know the car is only 8 months old.

Thanks for the reply
albob: What is this all about: Quote Max the Clifford dealer: strange ignition related components that upset the delicate clifford processor and also operation of the wireless immobilisation

I have been doing a little research on this subject and I have been told that the WRX Subaru does indeed need a modified Concept 500 alarm and its is all down to the high level of RF in the car, as other Scoobynet members have said.

The modified alarm is not something that the fitter can modify, it seems it has to be done by Clifford, and is supplied in that form.

I am waiting to have mine replaced and they are going to remove the standard system and replace it with another that has been supplied by Clifford.

Please be aware that you must have a modified WRX Subaru specific Concept C500 with Blackjax when it fitted to your car, remembering that mine is a eight moth old car, so it applies to new Subaru WRX cars.

Can’t wait till 9.00 Friday when they take the system out of my car and put in the correct modified version, I have been off the road for a whole week and missing driving it soooo much.

I went to Interpart 74 Broadway, Didcot Oxon. Tel: 1235510513 and saw Andrew, he did a reciprocal deal through R.A.M. in Wakefield to sort out my Clifford C500 alarm install.

Andrew put in a new box that had been modified by Clifford and this was written on the box, he also put in a new plain view switch, it was set up to my requirements with the features I wanted enabled, and the proxies were set up properly.

Andrew told me he had been involved with Clifford for ten years and the product was sound, I found Clifford customer service spot on and would like to than Natalie the customer service advisor for spotting the problem immediately and also R.A.M. for getting things sorted out, obviously the problem was down to a training issue of one of their staff at RAM in Wakefield

So all in all Clifford did well and RAM did their best under the circumstances.

I can recommend Interpart and especially Andrews services as he seems a top bloke for sorting things out.

I see no reason that it should fail again, if it does I will let you all Know, thanks for all your support on Scoobynet through the replies received.

REMEMBER SUBARU WRX’S NEED MODIFIED CLIFFORD C500 BLACKJAX ALARMS!

Does this modification apply to standalone Blackjax systems?

In my experience (not much I admit), I've found Clifford's to be excellent IF they are set up properly.

I've had a Clifford Concept 40 on my old Mini for 6 or 7 years and it has been very reliable - the only problem being that very heavy rain would set off the exterior proximity sensor (which Road Radio in Crawley "fixed" by switching it so low that literally nothing, not even a potential thief pushed up against the window, can make it go off!). DOH!

Had a Concept 300 + extras on my Impreza since I bought it in July - Huets in Hove have given me excellent after-sales service and I've only had 1 false alarm in 5 months. Seems pretty good to me

Blackjax4 stand alone unit does not require modification to be installed on to a Subaru WRX or non WRX.

Go get one installed and keep your car !!

Happy New Year to all.

Update++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++
Since the problems experienced and now having the Modified C500 fitted, I have not had any problems.

Lets hope that’s the end of it

Three C500 alarms later and I have got one that’s working, happy now.
