Guys,

As I'm in the process of replacing my stolen 94 WRX with a RB5 if things go according to plan.... and there is plenty on trackers (I've already chosen one), I was wondering what the 'best' Cat 1 alarm / Immobiliser is?

I know it can be pretty subjective and down to price, but Cliffords seem to crop on here up with problems and niggles. So I want to avoid this problem area if I can and get a nicely sorted hassle free setup.

Surely there must be a market leader or known alarm/Immob that is regarded as 'the best' in keeping toe rags from running of with your pride and joy?

I will be getting a Black jax fitted too.

Muchos.

Al.

Mmmm...

Not sure if he would appreciate me answering that!

Best if you ask him yourself as it really depends upon a lot of factors, car, budget, what YOU want from the package etc etc.

After some discussion of the above, and in my particular case, the Cliford Concept 500 or 600 got the thumbs up as they had the best of all world for my tastes.

Cat 1 security with some excellent bells and whistles with Blackjax on board.

I am now looking at the specs a little more closely and I will be making my mind up shortly (I'll keep it from this forum as you never know who's reading this!).

One thing I did hear (not from Dr Clifford) was that the 600 fuel cut-off unit can have some adverse affects on some Subarus. It's things like that that need some further investigation as I would like to make a proper informed choice before parting with £500-£600. I wouldn't want to be stranded with the wife and kids in the North Yorkshire moors with fuel starvation!

As you are down that way (He's near Aston I believe), give him a call and talk over your requirements.

Cheers Chris,

I will do. I've spoken to a local Wakefield supplier (who I was impressed with) but it wouldn't hurt to shop to around etc.

Unhappy

You wont be able to have the 600 on your car due to loud electronics on the JDM cars but the 500 is just as good except the wireless immobiliser

Chris, Andy.

Thanks for that, I will be giving them a call Monday as part of my shop around. I have already saved a few hundred on bits from the web.

Tony.

I was leaning towards the 500 anyway as it's spec seemed pretty sound, and as long as it was fitted PROPERLY, shouldn't give any problems.

Kingy.

Seeing that I like the place and have nothing but good words then here you go.. It's R.A.M Electronics @ www.rammobile.com

The have branches in Leeds, Hull and Wakefield. Talk to 'Phil' at the the Wakefield branch. I beieve he's fitted out quite a few Subaru's for the 'Well Lane Turbo Centre' and he certainly enjoys talking about them!

What are you after? Maybe a 'group buy' is in order?

I'll post my spec as it grows, and let you know the outcome.
