I was told recently that Trackers only work if a police car, fitted with the corrent equipment, drives within 500 yards of the car fitted with the Tracker, with this equipment switched on. Apparently there is no GPS signal emitted by any form of Tracker and it is a fallacy that they can just tell the police where the car is via a GPS search. Does anyone know?

When I was low-loading mine to a garage for some work to be done, I got a call after a couple of miles from Tracker, asking if I was still in possesion of my sccob as it was moving without the engine being started, Whether they knew where I was at the time is another thing, but it gave me peace of mind after that call.

They sure do work!!!!!

When I crashed my STI, when I got home RAC Trackstar phone me to tell me that the car was being moved without the key in the ignition, and do I know it`s location. I then explained the situation. So the Trackstar works alright.

With Tracker Police cars equipped with the machine can pick up the signal from a stolen car driving within approx 20 miles. A helicopter can pick up the signal being given off by a stolen car within approx 40-50 miles. Basically when you see a Police car with 4 aerials on the back this is a tracker equipped car and here in Birmingham there are loads. Even if you live in a small village and there is one tracker equipped car this will do as 20 miles is a fair distance. Tracker definately works.
