Hi All and anyone reading this. Having read some of the recent posts regarding security of car components ie: ICE, lights, indicator lens's etc thought this may be of interest to some of you.

I happened across a product new to the market a couple of years ago, Alpha Dot security........see Alpha Dot

Basically..........its a vial containing hundreds of microdots with a unique security code which can be used on almost anything! In the home, cars, bikes, tools etc etc. You can paint the solution onto almost anything you wish to keep a tight hold of in the event of your personal belongings going walk about.

The product is available via Halfords for minimal cost depending on the quantity of items you wish to mark. Simply register the unique code for a small fee and contact them if needed. The police are aware of Alpha Dot markings.

May be of use to someone

Thumbs up

I bought some a year or so ago, when Homebase were selling them for only a couple of quid per applicator (covers a whole car and much of your house) - bargain.

Oh, and registration is free!!!

How do you know it has alpha dots on.

e.g If i were to buy a light, indicator, door etc....we cannot see the alpha dots because they are so small.
So how do you know if this stuff is stolen...you don't! They will still sell the parts from a stolen car even with it being marked with alpha dots( people don't know they are marked, also if they were marked many people don't know what they are), they will only be of use when the police find these parts and then how do they know the parts are marked with alpha dots....they are not going to look at every item with a magnifying glass are they, they haven't got enough time to do things as it is.

Just my opinion anyway!

Dave.

From the URL...

"Look for red dots that also happen to be very UV sensitive. They show up, under UV light, in about one in five markings and indicate that an item of property has been marked and where readable dots can be found. The red dots themselves do not carry any data."

Basically, thieving scum can't be sure that every single bit of property found on their premises does not have the odd Alpha-Dot or two.

Just one dot is enough to get the b4stards!!!

Make 'em sweat
