Question

I'm asking from a users point of view. Do you carry something (a transponder?) on you, i.e. how does the car know you have got out and someone else is driving? Just wondering how this (and any other anti-jacking things) work as a user?

Obviously, I'm not expecting someone to give me the low down such that anyone reading could bypass it to steal a car. At the moment, my protection is device - i.e. my car could get recovered if car jacked. Obviously better if it didn't get away to start with, and curious as to whether it is worth the investment.

I've just reread this, and noticed that someone/thing has censored my hometown. Those of us who live there know it's a bit of a hole, but as for taking the hole out of it...............

Doctor,
the reason i never put anything down when i said about it works so trust me is because those amatures out there who hijack your car dont know how it works, now they do, ta.....
If you would be kind enough to delete how it works it will be a nice gesture

Uk, trust me, its very hard to tell if you have one of these units fitted to your car and also thats what mirrors are for but you should pop down to your nearest clifford dealer who will take you though exactly how this works and see for yourself

RE; TONY BURNS
THE CODE YOU ENTER ON A BLACK JAX IS UNIQUE TO THE CAR ITS FITTED TO IE 4729 SO TELLING YOU HOW IT WORKS IS IRRELAVENT BECAUSE YOUR CODE WOULD BE **** BLANK ******* BLANK ** BLANK ********* BLANK TRY AND BYPASS THAT ON THE MOVE

What worries me about the blackjax is the nice warning in the concept 600 manual that states "having this enabled invalidates the thatcham cat 1 approval"

Doctor,
what im saying is that you have told every thief out there how blackjax works, not the fact that you have a code but EXACTLY how it works....
Now if you would like to ammend the workings of it and just leave the rest

I would be more concerned with the fact that Clifford have the installation and user manuals for all their systems available for download via their website!!

I checked about the Cat1 problem and it does not effect your existing alarm as long as the BJ is fitted as a standalone unit.

Exclamation

Won't go into detail for obvious reasons, but blackjax CAN be bypassed with key fob IF one of the factory options isn't disabled. I have this system fitted to my scoob and one of my collegues also got it fitted to his 4x4 and used this method to drive to work without entering the code. THIS CAN BE DISABLED, BUT IF IN DOUBT, SPEAK TO YOUR CLIFFORD DEALER AS I WON'T PUT THE EXACT DETAILS UP ON A PUBLIC BBS FOR SECURITY REASONS

Guys - does the Blackjax system work with existing alarms/trackers - or do I have to get a whole Clifford system installed??

Clifford alarms are very easy to get around if any of you want details of how to bypass your whole system in a matter of seconds then leave your email address

Gibbo,

BJ can be fitted to any car as a standalone unit. It does not need to interface with your exisitng alarm thus keeping your CAT1 certification.

Cossie, i think you may be shocked at how long it does actually take a thief to get around a Clifford system, now no doubt your laserline is impecable and unbeatable but then again who wants to nick a 10+yr old shed of a cosworth?

Surely one of the best things about BJ is the sublety of the installation.. If the hijacker knows it's there they are likely to beat the code out of you..
