Gary,
I was thinking along the same lines...A wheel clamp and the disklok should dis-encourage most thieves...
I'm also after any info. that anyone has on clamps and ease of use e.t.c.

Hi Tony
I have a disklok already. But after some scumbags tried to nick my car a couple of weeks ago. I have been thinking of buying a wheel clamp or a decent handbrake/gear lever lock.
Lets hope somebody replied to our thread.
cheers

I read one of the car mags the other week, all about security...they didn't rate the handbrake/gear lever option, but did give max stars to the disklok, so I reckon one of those plus a decent clamp should stop/deter most of the thieving b4$74rds..

Tony,
I remembered years ago that you could buy a brake pedal lock. It was made by the same company who make disclok.
I had one for my Escort RS Turbo years ago .. basically it was a strong bracket fixed under the steering column and with a padlock on it. So you can lock the brake pedal up ... couldn't move the car because the brakes were locked. Good equipment I thought and very strong. Dunno if anybody remembers these devices.
Cheers

Hey, I've been thinking EXACTLY along the same lines....
Prices I got though seemed a little expensive, but I was getting a little silly on security, I had actually planned on getting one of them telescopic barriers at the end of my drive to stop my car going walkies.

Hi guys,
I'll second what someone else said about the hand-brake to gear lever locks. I tested 2 as part of an enginbeering project at Uni, and they were both cr*p ! They were made of mild steel, which could be sawn through in a few minutes, or with enough brut force they could be bent enough to detach them without any tools. There were several other ways to get them off quickly which I'm not going to list here for obvious reasons, but I wouldn't trust them to stop a serious thief for any more than a few minutes. They're probably quite a good visual deterant to stop the local kids having a go, but not much else.
Sorry if you've already got one, but best be warned than be carless !! (and I'm sure the serious car thief will already know how cr*p they are anyway so won't benefit much from this).
I did see a good report on the Stoplock Pro once though. It's the long bar that bends through the steering wheel and locks on. It covers the airbag so stops it getting nicked and also blocks the bolt so they can't unbolt your wheel and put another one on !! I've got one, but have never tried to break it admittedly - it does seem pretty sturdy though. If you've got a Costco near you buy it there, as it's about 20 quid cheaper than our friends at Halfords !!!

Without going into details, you don't want any of the steering wheel exposed (nut, airbag or rim) - which may be a weakness of the Stoplok!
The Disklok coves the entire steering wheel!!! Seems to be pretty much standard equipment amongst Scooby owners (just come along to any meet!!).

They look wicked, with a HIGH gadgetory factor.......
But they look like I can't quite afford one, might wait till i'm in town one night p*ssed up and try and dig one out of the road !!
(Obviously mugging the guy with the key too)
Scott
PS....The above comment is purely fictional and I would have no part in any acts of violence to any traffic wardens or such like......HONEST !!

I've got a Halfords wheel clamp (as well as a DiskLok). I seem to remember it getting good reviews when I got it 2 years ago. The car has been parked on the street in Central London for 2 years, so seems to be working so far. I got a MY93 WRX with 17" alloys and the clamp will go on. After a while you can get it on and off pretty quickly. Only down side is it makes a racket rattling around in the boot. When I take it off, I put (read wedge) it behind the front seat.

I have a halfords wheel clamp, they are good, it looks pretty tough and can be seen from awyas off, I just use that and my cat 1 alarm/immob, but to be honest if someone wants your car they'll take it anyway, my friend had his R32 Skyline nicked, by them putting it on a car transporter, they just dragged it up the ramp and left a big deep cut in his drive
