Ive got an issue with my alarm that I need to sort, I think it is the bonnet close sensor not working properly so the alarm keeps going off.

In the meantime I need to lock the car without setting the alarm off every 5 minutes.

Ive got a Sigma M30 installed on my 2005 Blobeye.

Am I right in thinking that if I lock the car with the key in the drivers door it will not arm the alarm at all?

Now I also need to get a new battery as it ran flat not long ago and the alarm went off, is this because there is a "battery removed" protection and the alarm triggered? I dont want this happening again as last time it went off in the middle of the night, I doubt the neighbors were impressed.

i sometimes lock mine using the key (alarm doesnt arm)

 

Have the same issue at the moment, entered the codes into the number pad and confirmed its the bonnet circuit that's at fault.
Locking the car with the key, it's a pain but works.

I'm going to bypass the whole bonnet circuit once I get some security torx to access the alarm box.

Won't the system flag that up as an issue when you arm it?

I've tried cable tieing the bonnet switch down and it still goes off.

 

Car alarms are not that clever fella All the bonnet switch does is short the wire to the body (earth) of the car.

Disconnect the wire from the bonnet switch, and tape it out the way where it can't touch the body. If it still goes off, the problem is somewhere else.

You can get Sigmas to flash you which circuit triggered the alarm, via flashing the LED.

Arm and then disarm the system with the remote and within 30second enter the following on the keypad:


* 17856 * 38 then #

The LED will flash the last alarm trigger:

1 = Ignition (turned on whilst system is set)
2 = Door
4 = Boot
8 = Bonnet
16 = Interior sensor (ultrasonics)

 

Yeah I get the 8 flashes.

 

Ok, just used the method above and I get 8 flashes too, so its the bonnet trigger. Cheers for info ALi-B.

I also think my alarm backup battery is knackered as when I arm the alarm and hold down the bonnet trigger, then disconnect the main battery positive lead my alarm just makes a little chirp noise like its trying to work but cant.

Reconnect the main battery and the alarm goes off until I use the key fob.

 

Removed bonnet switch at the wknd and had no issues since.

Result!

 

Hi there, also need some advice on this please.... Cars been sitting without mot for a couple of months, doing it next week. I think the battery's had it so ordered a new onee and is ready to fit.
When locking with the remote, the battery runs down really quick and sets alarm off.

Am I right in thinking that would save some battery power.?
And also if locking with the key, will you still need to arm then disarm with remote to turn off immobiliser?
Keeps going off and i have to run out and jump it quickly to stop it.
If its not being driven for a while is this the best thing to do?
