My first Subaru and some alarm/key help please ?
Hello all,
Good to be in the world of the Subaru. i have just bought a 2004 forester 2.0XT. Loving attacking the dark back roads !. Unfortunately I have a , by the sounds of it , a common problem.
I bought the car with just one key like this :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-1-B...item339836dac5
I did not even know about the alarm and immobilser after 30 secs, but I have read alot ! Over the last few days.
I have amazingly found the sticker code for the pin of the Sigma alarm , and the key pad looks intact in the little pod. I have also read about the functions of the alarm and know the procedure for coding new keys against it .
HOWEVER, I am still a little confused. I am wanting a new key as a spare obviously in case my one is lost. I am a little confused at what to buy.
If the immobilser is turned off by a radio key , can I buy one of these :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-imp...item462c0833c1
And then just get a cheap key cut , then use them together. Press fob then start car with cheap key. Easy.
However , is there another transponder in the key ?. or is there just the sigma one ?. Could i buy the key above and stick a new blade in it ?
or this :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-2-B...item2a37ef955a
AHh , confused.
oh and is this required on the one button remotes, or does one button do locks and immobiliser without having to dig into the sill :

any help appreciated

Interesting, so the car has a transponder for the car/ecu built into the key . and then the same key has to be matched to the sigma alarm using the key pad ?

Dependent on which key to start with:
1 button key all in the key remote central locking and a chip for immobiliser, central locking/ alarm done by keypad chip by separate computer ( Subaru or timpsons etc )
2 button key has chip in it and a separate fob for central locking/ alarm same ways of programming etc
Cheapest solution would be new key from timpsons with cloned chip and a secondhand fob from eBay to work central locking alarm.
