Are there maps or anything on how to get there posted on the web. I hope to see the start and then head on to at least two of the special stages. The Granite City Rally website doesnt seem to have a map, just map references.

Sorry guys,

we are karting tomorrow in Edinburgh. The event was only announced after we had already arranged the karting, otherwise we would have been there in force

I'll be proudly displaying my SIDC stickers and wearing the Subaru T shirt as usual. What a sad man I am.
It hasnt been well advertised this time, least not anywhere I looked.
John S - The Karting, are the karts in Edinburgh compensated for the drivers weight? At 6ft 2" and 15 stone, I found myself at a disadvantage at Kart Start. Fast enough through the corners, but difficult to pass 7 stone weaklings on the straights.

Are you allowed to hijack your own thread?

clubby - all stages are run twice and the timing means you'll only manage the same stage twice

the start is Fordoun 1st car due at stages at following times
Drumtochty Glenfarquhar Fetteresso
ss1 1143 ss2 1201 ss3 1226 service @ fordoun
ss4 1406 ss5 1424 ss6 1449 finish @ fordoun

hope this helps

Stan

Stan - thanks for the help.

Best plan then is to head for a stage and stay there?

I'll go seeking a map, I've no idea where Fettereso (anywhere near Fettercairn?) Glenfarquhar or Drumtocchty are.

Clubby,

we have our own handicap system, based on driver weight and experience, which means (hopefully) close racing throughout the race and until the end.

Heaviest teams (based on average driver weight) star first on the grid, and teams lighter than the average weight have additional stop/go penalties to help even things out.

Being "big" isn't a disadvantage in our races, and in fact some teams were actually on the look-out for "larger" than average drivers to help increase their average team weight.

no maps.

you'll need map 45 stonehaven area.

marshals are required for the event so should you wish to help you'll be more than welcome arrive about 1000

if you come to the finish look for a pug estate it'll have a mag mount aerial on the roof

Stan - didnt get your reply until this morning when I came into work. I saw the start at Fordoun, and watched SS2 Drumtochcty and SS4 Glenfarquhar. By that time we were a little damp, so headed to Banchory for bacon rolls and soup.

Who won? One of the Evo's (running second - Gary Adam - I think) seemed to be flying at Drumtochty, compared to the others. It was a smaller event this year than I remember, but well organised and thrilling to watch. Results arent posted as yet.
