Can any of you lads recommend a rolling road near/
around west central scotland? and what is an average
cost for this?
Does the rolling road also alert you to any problems
or tuning issues the car might need done, or is it
purely a power measurement?
My car is an early Sti and it had a cat fitted to it
a couple of years ago so it would pass an MOT , ,
( felt I got ripped off at the time but thats another
story). How much power difference do you think the cat
would have lost?

Damn, too many questions for one thread I'll leave it at
that.

Cheers in advance

Star Performance in Glenrothes have one and (I think) AWD in Glasgow.

It's worth giving them a call for advise on what you would get out of a rolling road session. Most guys use it to measure power output from mods.

If you're looking for fault or stats from the ECU, then you need a Select Monitor. Don't know if it's the same for STI's.

Which cat did you get re-fitted?

On UK models, there's one in the downpipe and one in the centre section. The downpipe is the most restrictive, but again I don't have knowledge of the STI's.

Cheers for the reply Stefan,
It was the centre section cat that was replaced/
added. Not too sure of the effect of a cat myself
but was always under the impression they were good
for about 15% increase/ decrease on power?
Havent heard of a select monitor what is it?/ are
they easy too get a hold of?

A Select Monitor is about £6K, so reserved for the likes of Subaru Dealers. I think both Star and Falklands in Glenrothes have them. Don't know if AWD in Glasgow have one - probably will since they have a few Subaru open days throughout the year.

Star Performance in Glenrothes are very good 01592 770377. We use them a fair bit during the year.

It's AVA in Glasgow, behind the Airport. Star are probably your better bet as they have a good bit of experience with Scoobs.

AWD are in Perth 01738 633336 and have a select monitor. Grant or Dave is who you need to speak to. Dave frequents this BBS...Dave???

On the rollers you can tell a fair bit and some diagnostic work can be done, if you are running below par. You can also get performancce speeds, 0 to 60 and in-gear accel. timings. It's all a matter of what you want. Give Jim a call @ Star and have a chat with him.

Question

Any of you lads outside Curry's in Hamilton today? Saw a silver STI sitting in the car park a few rows down from my RB5.

Ozzy

AWD are the only independant company to have all the special tools & diagnostic equipment for checking all Subaru & Isuzu models.

Hope this helps

Ross,
No my number plate is my username, when i've seen u
ive been in my other performance car......
J plate cavalier cdi
As for reliability ive had it three years and only parts
other than consumables, pads tyres etc, that I have changed
are the drop links ( sh1ty roads) and the cat rip-off fiasco.
Oh and it has the annoying heatshield rattle like every other
Subaru.
Not bad for nearly 90,000 miles
Dougie
