Default Classic MK1 Impreza Turbo good and bad points?

Im thinking of buying a MK1 Impreza turbo, what are the good and bad points of these cars? I have a budget of 1-3K how good a car could i get for this? Does anybody know a good solid reliable unmodified example for sale at the moment in Scotland? Has anybody got classic car insurance on their Scooby and if so what are you paying? What is the service intervals for these cars? The car would be used for classic car shows and would not be driven hard or often.

Good Points:

1. Cheap to buy
2. Becoming rare in nice condition (£2-3k should be a very good one)
3. Generally reliable if looked after
4. Parts availability and price

Bad Points:

1. Rust in rear arches, wings, sills
2. Head-gaskets
3. Shot suspension
4. Poorly maintained examples
5. Fuel consumption - obviously
6. Chav image
7. Not that quick these days in standard form
8. Engine failure, usually related to 4. above
9. Many are dragged and tracked

Good luck finding a nice standard example
