Knockhill Lap Times
#1
I used to race at Knockhill a few years ago. Now have a sensible (ish) road car. I was wondering what sort of lap times road legal Scoobs and EVO's are doing ??
Wet, Dry, Standard or modified, whatever.

Unfortunately we don't permit lap timing at the SIDC track events.
However, a few owners have fitted video cameras to their cars, and then found out timing info from that.
Typically, a standard UK spec car will lap in about 65 - 70 seconds, depending on conditions, driver etc.
A standard 22B or P1 will be a second or two faster than that.
Some modified cars can shave another second or two off of this (getting down towards 61 seconds).
I think the fastest Impreza lap has been about 57 - 58 seconds, but this was on a car running slicks, lots of power, competition spec suspension etc.

61-62 secs but this was on slicks, fmic, link,1.35bar vf23 all on a uk car 320bhp and 300lbft but i am a **** driver in the right hand it would have broken the 60 secs i think.

Cheers guys
My reason for asking was that 2wd Cosworths are quicker than 4wd Cosworths round Knockhill. I was wondering how the scoob compared.
It appears that it compares to the quicker of the pair.....which is good !

i have had eibach springs, solid drop links, solid sway bar and anti lift kit. the full suspension was going to be my next move before i changed my mind and got a new car

Colin T and I were down to 63 secs on the old track. Not had a time in the present car on the modified track, but believe it is about 1.5 secs quicker than the old set up.
So I would think around 61-62 for me on standard SO2's.
On the Powertours weekend, the BTTC cars were 55.1, Lotus Motorsport Elises 55.3, and modified road Elises 57.5. All of course with racing drivers, and track cars, including the road Elises.

I'd love to be proved wrong but I can't see a Scoob or Evo getting under 60 secs on road tyres.
Slicks are a different story, they can be worth 2-3 seconds a lap.

to take 2 secs off your time on track is a life time!!! i think when i just had the link runing 250bhp i was doing 64-65 so it took almost 70bhp on top of that to take 2-3secs off!!!
i also doubt that i will be able to break the 60secs with the evo but you never know. maybe if someone else was driving it
