Smile How much can it take?

A Standard Gearbox... MY99 UK Turbo

How much power do the standard boxes roughly take/cope with before you start getting problems (assuming you look after it).

Obviously a better clutch would help with power gains but how detremental is this to the box ? How strong are these ?
The car wont be used for track days or the like, i was just wondering at what level of power are you starting to stress it ( if you know what i mean)
300? 330? 350bhp?

Or is there a better box to fit when your at a certain level of power ?

Cheers

300-350hp is the "usual", but that doesn't mean to say it won't last longer mate. I know of a few peeps who had circa 400 from a UK box.

Decent gear oil and easy on the changes helps.

Clutch helps take the impact of changing gear. Organic is best.

Always use Millers stuff myself. CRX 79W90 IIRC.

Clutch, i'd personnally pay the extra for the AP, but there's nowt much wrong with the Exedy's from what i've heard. Used the AP in my old RB5 and it was actually easier to use than the standard jobby.
