I'd like to put my name down too for the next Star RR Day. Also, if it's allowed , a Scooby-friendly mate of mine with a '86 quattro would like to enter too.

I hope they have binned that exhaust fan unit. I eventually got round to cleaning the Evo and noticed 'slight' rippling above my exhaust on the lower apron. It's no-where near the extent done to Brians Yellow 5, but bad enough to visit the paint shop.
It's amazing how small things spoil yer day.

Tell me about it John!
Gents, make sure that exhaust extractor is nowhere near your car or
you will get burnt, in more ways than one!
My £30 rolling road day will cost me around £400 in total to fix.
Thats a new rear air dam, repair of a small section of the bumper,
painting and refitting.

Thanx Pete,
My figures were a big surprise
Ive still got the burnt one, it may be possible to repair
by someone who is handy with GRP. Its bent and rippled in an
awkward section though. I didn't fancy patching up my EVO so
bit the bullet and bought the new section.

Don't quite understand about this exhaust fan and damage if someone could explain for a thicko. My car is now ready to go on the rollers - I hope it will produce over 215bhp What does it cost?

Well it is 3 seconds quicker 50-70 5th (5 vs 8) than standard and almost 1 sec quicker for 50-70 3rd (2.4 vs 3.3) and 30-70 through the gears (4.5 vs 5.4) making 5 PSI more at the top end so maybe 217bhp The 30-70 time would suggest +20% on std but who knows, I know many are disappointed and others are pleasantly surprised.

The exhaust gas temperatures from your motor are several hundred degress, could be as much as 500-600. If the exhaust extracter is incorrectly fitted, as was to my EVO 5 and Big Johns EVO 6, the gasses get bounced right back onto your bumper/airdam etc. It wont take much time for the paint to ripple or in my case melt the airdam.
Just after I noticed the problem and pointed it out, Jim at Star (after shrugging his shoulders for the responsibility for the damage) removed the machine and the remainder of the runs used a straight metal pipe.
My car is fixed now, but at a cost to me of over £400, thats a new airdam and paint job. Big John needs a paint job on his as well.

Would certainly be interested so I will keep an eye out for a set date. Would like to find out what my standard 5door wagon puts out before I add a group N spec. tartan rug to the back seats!!!
