I've tried AVA, Star Performance and Dastek, and had my gf's Volvo T4, my Rover Turbo, the Scoob and my old Rover 214 used on one or more of the aforementioned rollers over the last few years.
Out of them I'd definately recommend Dastek. AVA are far too hard on a car on the rollers IMO, the stepped method of running them is totally unnecesary IMO and has the car on the rollers for 3,4,5 times as long as it normally takes to do one sweep through the rev range as with inertia runs on other rollers.
Star I found ok apart from the fan was a bit small IMO, and also the transmission losses seemes a tad extreme, though this was at their old location in Glenrothes before they moved to Kircaldy.
Recently I've only been on at Dastek as they are the best rollers I've used and not that far away, couple of times with the Rover, couple of times with the gf and her Volvo, and then had the Sti on the other week there (291bhp) , Power FC by Andy F very soon hopefully so will be good to get another figure and see how much I've gained from that. Gerry is also spot on, always willing to discuss how the car is etc and knows his stuff.

I had my car down at AVA when I 1st got it (naive of me it was years ago).
Completely std it made 190ish bhp at the wheels lol. Then they told me they would drop the compression with a spacer plate and fit a fuel computer for more power (on an otherwise std car).
When I questioned the possibility of mapping the response was. - Subaru have spent millions mapping the ecu, therfor it must be spot on. -
This was 4 years ago. I've never been back.

The rollers at AVA are much larger than those used on most rolling roads so theres less power lost in the tyre/roller interface where most of the 'transmission losses' occur. When I was there they reckoned about 40-50hp difference between the roller reading and flywheel and not the 90 or so most rollers give.
Cant say I was much impressed by them though.

BHP test !!!
Go to Jap-Performance in Ellon, Aberdeenshire. He's recently added a 50 thousand pound double rolling road in-stall with full print.
I think he charges 60 ish for a dyno
