any scottish P1 owners want to do a deal on a 6speed?
mods, please leave in scottish forum as I am wanting someone local so that a test drive is possible for both parties.
I have a UK6 speed fitted to my car and am considering trying to get a P1 box if anyone fancys doing a deal. I think some of the non-dccd, late classic sti's use the same box also.
I had bought the 6speed as I was looking to take my engine further with a larger turbo and sti unit allowing a higher rev limit , to make use of the shorter gearing from 1st to 4th. I cant bring myself to rip out a perfectly good engine so would rather go back to a 5speed but with slightly shorter gearing than oem classic UK.
pm me if anyone interested.

quote "so would rather go back to a 5speed but with slightly shorter gearing than oem classic UK. "
is the P1 box not same as the Classic uk models then?
which of the 2 is higher geared (P1 or your six speed )?
what amount of power can your six speed take in terms of reliability?
what is the mileage on your box and has it had a hard life ?
will it be an "in and out job" i.e. no additional parts required ?
cheers...MIke

from the info I have,
UK5 Speed per 1000 RPM:
1st: 5.2 mph
2nd: 9.3 mph
3rd: 13.3 mph
4th: 18.7 mph
5th: 24.6 mph
UK 6
speed per 1000 RPM:
1st: 5.0 mph
2nd: 7.6 mph
3rd: 10.3 mph
4th: 13.5 mph
5th: 18.7 mph
6th: 24.0 mph
P1
speed per 1000 RPM:
1st: 5
2nd: 8.5
3rd: 12.3
4th: 16.4
5th: 21.6
some say the 6speed gears are good for 600bhp and that the weak spot is the synchros but that comes from drag type abuse IMO , same with any synchro box.
I have never done any drag/track work since fitting the box around 1000miles ago.
no extra parts should be needed as all the parts will be swapped.box, prop, rear diff linkages etc.

almost a year on and I still have this box. trying to swap it out in a deal for a P1 box was too much hassle so in the end I decided to keep it.
it must be a winter thing but I have now decided to sell it. similar to last time , any one interested in the box is more than welcome to come and try it first.
BOX NOW SOLD
