Help with knock link...?
Just had a knock link fitted, and not sure if it’s working correctly.
First off, when we where trying to calibrate the sensor we could not get the lights to light up, even under some duress.
If you tap the sensor the lights do flutter up to the red, but never when driving.
According to the instructions the lights should come on when driving, if the sensor is set to max.
We could not get them to light at all.
Any help?
Cheers
Chris

When the igition is turned on you should get the 1st green led faintly lit up, this indicates power to the unit. If you gun the car to near red line through the gears you may see a few LEDS flicking on, it depends how sensitive you set the KH.

You should set the KL to max sensitivity as a starting point.
With the ignition on, then as caz1562 says you should see the bottom green light lit faintly. If you tap the sensor, then it should light up all the lights.
If you warm the car up and then blast it through all the gears, then you should see some activity. Just how much depends on a lot of things, but if you get Ambers or Reds (and can replicate it) then you should try adding some octane booster to see if it goes away or get someone with det cans to confirm if it's noise or actual det.

W.L.S. done mine the other day, probably easier than you think ,just suss the power supply /earth wiring out before you start.
I took my power from the radio and earthed it on a bolt under the gear lever gaitor , all the wiring is run up in the centre consel with the Knocklink in one of the central air vent holes.
Oh and i didni need to take intercooler right oot , just slackened inlet hose, and turbo hose and unbolted intercooler just needed a wee shoogle to gain access to sensor position.

ps (W L S) my mate fitted it i around 1 /12 hours, but that included making a very neat job, the fecking box is hard to place neatly.
Gee's a shout if you want to see how to do it properly.

Glad you got there in the end mate. I'll give you a call in the next couple of days concerning our little arrangement
Hopefully I'm gonna be in full-on evil mode tomorrow sometime all going well, so I'll make the call and see what suits us both. I'm nightshift tonight and cannot imagine getting much sleep tomorrow

Does that price include calibrating it properly with det cans?
Average price if you source the Knocklink display and Bosch sensor seperately is around £135-£140. Fitting it is very straightforward and probably an hours work. Biggest hassle is removing the Intercooler and the dash (depending on where you take the 12v ignition feed from).
It's an ugly box and usually just velcro'd to the dash. Here's a pic of mine:-
Fitting the unit is an easy DIY job (I've instructions on my website), but the important thing is having the engine checked for detonation with pucka det cans so this can be correlated to any knocklink activity. That's the most important bit and is worth paying for.
Who quoted you to fit the unit?
