Default Who fancies a Remap

As above guys, as many of you's from the RR at star know my car was running lean. So i'm about to bite the bullet and go for a remap.
I will more than likely be getting it done by Gavin from wallace performance in Aberdeen.
George from extreme in Whitburn, stated that if he could get a minimum of three cars, Gavin would travel down here to carry out the remap.

So if anyone fancies it give us a shout, maybe even try and get it done at a discounted rate,(suppose depends on the numbers).

Gavin is on holiday until next wednesday, so you's have a bit of time to think about it.

failing all this if the price is right, i will probably just take the trip up anyway.

Sorry M8 - too soon for me - light mods will hopefully start in early Sept

Will be interested in the price and to see how it turns out though

Simon dont have any confirmed details as present, as the bloke from wallace is on holiday until next wednesday. all the england suppliers and tuners i have called gave a price of £760. Bob Rawle is giving a group buy for around £580 for the remap, but he will not be carrying work out until August. this is no good to me, also its in Swindon.
so my options at present are limited. waiting until next wednesday to get the info.
from what i have read, the mappers are quoting figures up to 280-290bhp on a WRX with full decat, and exceptional impovements on torque. also from what i am led to believe this can all be done with standard turbo, injectors and fuel pump, this i will have to confirm.

will keep posted.

Paul.

Paul most would agree though that seeing as your injectors will run at 100-110 % IDC then a fuel pump is an essential.
Stilltrying to get money together myself but this scoob lark is never ending...loads to do before that I think.

Spooks as you say mate, never ending. Personally not looking for any more big gains, just looking for the beast to run safe with what i've got. i thought the injectors and fuel pump would be able to cope with these power increases, could have been misinformed though(which is always a potential).

it is a lot of dosh to part with, wont be going ahead myself until i've researched a bit further.

Mate will all depend probably how many people go for this. you know yourself from previous group buy posts, they are looking for at least 10. however as scotland being a smaller country then if we can at least get a few of us, we have something to bargain with.

will keep you posted, can have a natter on Friday.

Keevster, the last thing an MY04 decat should do is run lean. Have you changed the induction? What was the mixture? The non-STis should run fine without a remap.

A remap should be applied to a healthy car not to cover up faults.

IMHO, running lean with just a decat on your car is a fault not a need for tuning.

What was the AFR anyway? Is it on your plot?

ROSSCNEW, the 320 figure was based on I believe Litchfield's remapped imports and the official Jap figure is still I believe 276 BHP, 280 PS. With mapping and exhaust you should see 310+ at Star (with good fan usage on the TMIC) if a non-twin scroll model, probably more on the twin scroll.

Glad you posted John, your opinions will be taken on board.

story so far.

standard MY04 WRX, Maltese import, UK spec.

MODS- Full decat, downpipe back, full magnex. (2 weeks ago)
J W panel filter.
Rolling Road- 257 bhp, torque 237lbs/ft.

car has been pulling like a train, but getting a pinking 4rth and 5th gear. this was confirmed on RR. mixture was 12-1 and 14-1 at one point. Jim at star was pretty surprised to that it was running lean with only a full decat. what i have been told by a few so far is that the remap will sort the prob, they have stated thats what is required.

What do you think yourself, is this possbile with a full decat or do i have other issues. should i go back to stock.????

cheers

Paul.

PS i am still driving everyday but off boost. (pisser)

I'm not aware of anything in the ECU that should make it remotely lean with a decat.

Indeed, you expect it to be stinky rich on a UK/Euro spec.

What boost is it hitting maximum?

Might be worth being absolutely certain you have a UK spec - number on the top of the ECU would help, I don't have all the numbers for 04, but someone on here will.

Calling from sunny spain here

I´m with John on this, I´ve seen no less than 12:1 AFR on these car going to well past this too. The only thing I can think of is
1. Dodgy AFR gauge (most likely) what sensor is being used?
2. some form of high boost levels
3. Pinking coming from failing MAF, on this car highly unlikely

Are you running any form of SECS or ecutek monitor to show knock correction from det?

Take it up mate, I´ll look at it FOC if you want.

Regards the group buy, if you guys can get 5 cars or more I´ll do the maps for 500 plus VAT each. hope that sounds ok.

Approx 275bhp....

Can´t drop the VAT mate, custom´s and excise have to make some sort of money out of me, as much as I´d like not to give them it.

full decat, high pressure pump to get VERY SOON THEN !!
We´ll easily fit these and then do the remap if you want, carry good stock on these.

You are best to have a remap what ever you change on your car. I do remaps from 200 plus vat upwards depending on what the changes are.

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply gavin/John

I'm not running anything except what was stated. The car has only done 9000miles, and i am 100% certain John that its an EU/UK spec, it was not quick enough to be jap spec.

as for you having a look gavin, would be much appreciated. regardless anyway Remap is the way i now want to go, (thats if everything else checks out okay).

as for the group buy guys, lets get it on. not to many of these are likely to come up in the near future,(for this price), so i think we should make the effort and count the pennies.

regardless, i will be doing it anyway(if the price is right gavin), so obviously i would like the cheaper price option.

Gavin i know your back on wednesday. hopefully everyone can make a descion by then if they fancy the remap. not want to rush you or anything, but can i give you a bell when your back, as i'd rather get the car checked out and remapped asap, for obvious reasons.

What do you mean by this

It´s done to the highest spec we can that your car is physically cable of. As John mentioned, a remap is something that cannot be done to cure an existing fault - I´ve had a few ask "if I get a remap will it cure my misfire under load" and John, you probably experienced this every bit as much as myself

JDM spec sti region of about 325-335.

With regards to the time of when it´s done, it´s no problem, take as long as you want guys.. My 4x4 rollers don´t come until 8 weeks so if you want to wait until then you´re all more than welcome, likewise, if you want to get it done any sooner I´ll also help out.

Hope I aint stood on anyones toes here If so, let me know and I´ll stop posting...
