Thumbs up Shameless Plug and breakdown story

Left Invergordon 07:50 am got two miles down road when I saw smoke !!

Thought thats odd, pulled over engine started stuttering and steam everywhere "panic" was the main word !!

Shut everything off and lifted bonnet to find water everywhere..Turned engine over to see if I could spot a leak once it cooled (just in case) and sure enough nice big hole in main radiator hose

shut engine off ASAP and decided to leave it be and wait for RAC in case of any other damage -

Then spent 4 hrs waiting for the recovery company to figure out

A: They needed a flatbed lorry and had to go get it (despite me saying this on phone to RAC)
B: Taking a further hr to come 5 miles with the flatbed
C: Then having me tell them the best way to get the car onto the ramp and suggesting front first was a bit silly

bear in mind the guy first came out in a van an hr after me calling and said oh well I lost that bet then, knew I had to get a lorry and went off again leaving me with my mouth open grrr..bearing in mind they were only two miles away.

So while getting colder and really needing a cup of tea at 8am..I called Glenburgie in Forres alerted them to the fact I was on way and sure enuff they were ready when I got there 4 hrs later !

I can only thank them for their kindness - cup of tea and swift action to sort the car once I got there at short notice. Got the crack, almost had me convinced to buy a skyline R32 GTR and made me feel very welcome, just like popping into a mates house.

Small amount of dosh and a test driver later im on my way with a big grin and a bit late for work (5hrs)

No point to this other than huge thumbs up to an excellent attitude and top class down to earth service you dont see much these days...cant recommend them highly enough !

PS Finally got to test my tracker (they werent amused when I said I know its moving lol)

I had a similar problemm with the AA, they sent a van out despite me stressing the fact they would need to bring a flatbed lorry out
My mate with a GTI-R had the very same problem with the RAC.
Do these companies not listen at all
Think they presume we all don't know what were talking about and just don't care if we have to stand in the pishing rain for 5 hours

Interesting reading as I'm about to organise breakdown cover this weekend!

Thinking about going woth Tesco recovery, through Green Flag.
The wife's car broke down and they were out within the hour!
Excellent service. Cheaper than AA as well!

norry.

Keiron! Did you spot my fridge whilst you were up? (white classic, 18" SL's)

Dropped it off before heading offshore to have the body tidied up a bit after winter. Again, most know how highly i regard Liam & co. They've taken care of almost all the servicing and serious mechanical work done to my car (including replacement engine) and Liam is currently mid way through tarting up ye olde Zanussi in his spare time in the evenings.

Sorry to hear about the engine bother Kieron, at least it didn't turn out to be terminal like mine.

Little Miss Sti saw yours was out there for a while kept looking at it and thinking I must get a Type R , nice brakes BTW looked sweet !

Mine went out there for a week or so to get rocker cover done and noticed your car there and thought it was urs cause of the SIDC sticker.

Carl saw ur car mate, actually asked Liam if it was urs cause I recognised the 4 pots and the alloys from a pic on the web. Looked like it was in the middle of a transformation

Mine went in after the breakdown to my painter to get a tidy and he had it ready today - immaculate ! well chuffed and only 2 days to get the work done. Seriously tempted by that R32 GTR though..

As you say Carl I rate them highest out of any garage I have been to and won't let anyone else touch the car now - hence posting on here so people know to give em a call if u got a prob, should of seen face on driver when I said no your taking me to Glenburgie and thats it..oh yeah its 45 miles..

PS I blame the sub-contractors that RAC use, he clearely had a spec sheet listing the scoob but ignored it and when he said about the weight of the car it was down as far less which would of broken the ramp at the angle he tried to load it on ! priceless indeed.

It was looking well nice when I saw it, no many cars I like in black but it just looked plain mean

Not sure about plans to be honest, we took a couple of cars down to last SIDC day at knockhill but it was so wet we never really got the crack with anyone..I think thats the main thing havent had yet. But I did get the play with a modded evo 5 on way back up and proved my car (on a private test track of course)

Im in the middle of deciding what next, either keep the car and invest or cut my losses and start with something else...

In meantime planning at least one Crail, might even run the 1/4 mile and will b up for any SIDC days - especially once my mate gets his new car heheh
