There are some good log cabins in Lochinver itself just over the river at Baddidaroch. We stayed in them over xmas/new year once and they were great (I'll dig out a contact if you want?). Being in lochinver will give you close access to some AMAZING subaru roads and of course some good nearby beaches for a walk such as Achmelvich bay The white cottage next to the phone box in achmelvich will be mines when the old man pops his clogs He's proving quite resistance to bleech in his tea so far
I really should go up to melvie, I've not been since the summer

There are some log cabins down by Ardmair, just round the corner from Ullapool, although I'm not sure who runs them. I would imagine you could find out via the tourist board in Ullapool though.

Firstly the road from Ullapool to Lochinver is a lot a fun but better yet is a section at the big dam about 40 miles before you get to Ullapool The road to Kyleskew (spelt as it sounds) is brilliant (accessed from the Ullapool/Lochinver Road) with some great hairpins. For some really great scooby action take a trip up to store lighthouse from Lochinver. Its single track most of the way and just plain mental. You have to slow right down on blind corners (obviously) but when driven hard in a scooby its probably as close to a rallying as you can get without actually doing it. Just be careful though because if you make even a small mistake you will very likely leave the road in dramatic fashion
The roads up there are true impreza roads - you'll do very well to get out of third gear and its very heavy on fuel and brakes
*** Remember the scooby is a road car ultimately: For every hard 10 mins of driving give her a brake for 5 mins as those supertight single track roads really are brutal on engine, brakes and suspension. Probably as bad or worse than 10 mins track driving!

The first hit hear are the cabins I was on about
They are owned by Sue and Roy MacLeod and by virtue of the fact they are from Lochinver and are called MacLeod spelt the same way as me I am almost certainly distantly related to them as I am with half the population of Lochinver Best leave the cabins tidy though as their sons Ben and Jason are quite possibly the beefiest lads I've ever met I recall a very short lived arm wrestle last year at the local dance
