Well, there's only one "Lake" in scotland so you're really narrowing down your choices.

Try looking here -------> Scottish Tourist Board Site

Try around Loch Earn Head, Callander areas. Fairly central location, easy to get to Perth, Glasgow, Edinburgh.

Fantastic Scenery and some cracking roads.

Wink

If you're going for a week AND you're taking your scoob, you will NOT want to stay in one place

Heret one of the many fantastic roads your gonna want to drive[/url]

Having said that, next time I go up it would be good to find a cottage somewhere 'central' rather than a string of hoels/B&Bs

Looking forward to seeing some replies to your question

I've stayed here a few times:

Only about 2 miles from the start of the road to Applecross.

Great driving roads in all directions. Watch out for the midgies in August though!

Stayed at this B&B while doing West Highland Way last year. THE best service i've had anywhere. Lovely people, lovely place.

Cannot recommend it highly enough. If you look at the picture on the website, Loch Lomond is just out of picture to your left.
