Karting on 23rd or 30th Nov @ Raceland vs TVRs
Hi
Us TVR folks are getting restless with no karting over the summer, so we're trying to organise an 'inter marque' karting challange, probably TVR-Lotus-Subaru and anyone else interested. To avoid the problems with folks having to organise teams of a fixed number of drivers and to encourage newcomers, the idea is that it will operate like an 'individual' grand prix with the usual prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In addition, each driver will represent their 'marque' [either by being an owner or a club member], and the points for all drivers for each marque represented will be added up and a winner calculated. Winning marque will then win a crate of beer - and obviously much respect from everyone else!
It means that marques with only a few drivers still have a chance of winning outright, and folks can come along and race without having to join a team first. Should also address 'ringers', as no team needs to make up numbers to a set level, and anyone can race - they just race on behalf of what they drive or the club they are a member of.
The event will be at RaceLand, East Lothian on either Sunday 23rd or Sunday 30th of November, on the outdoor track with twin engined karts. [Sunday 30th is St.Andrews day]. If its the 23rd, then it would be at 15:00 - we can do any time on the 30th. Cost is projected to be £49 per person, and we will need deposits once the final date is agreed.
Can you let me know an idea of numbers, and also what date you would prefer [from the 23rd or 30th], and if it's the 30th, what time you'd prefer?
Thanks
Willie

Dougster - Cameron has been in touch with Cambuslang, and is getting a date sorted for the karting towards the end of November. We'll then get all the RO's to drum up support from their region to make sure it's a popular event
I'm also going to arrange one in early December for up here in Aberdeen. We'll have a bit of a karting frenzy in a month or so
Willie - the 23rd would suit me best.

OK folks, we're going for Sunday November 23 at Raceland at 3:00. Format/cost as mentioned before, but we'll confirm nearer the time if it looks like we have the numbers. Basically race as individuals grand prix style for standard Raceland trophys, then we'll tally up drivers' points by marque, and drivers from the marque with the most points win booze...and the sincere admiration of everyone else
