Derek, the 172 is standard right now.
Its still under warrenty so I don't think I'll do anything - yey :-)
Because its NA options to increase bhp are limited, but Renault do a ECU upgrade for a few hundred quid that is meant to be worth the money :-)
Catch you later (or maybe not :-)

Hi Frazer, just saw your reply.
I'm not Saxoboy that is another Kenny - the name is soo common :-)
But coincidentally, I do have a 172 and a member of the cliosport club and should be along to the Stirling meet (its lovely and sunny here in Edinburgh I hope its the same around Stirling), assuming I can slip away from the better half without her noticing ...

Hi Kenny
It was me!
Must have been about 4:45ish?
Met you first coming up from Newbridge on the sliproad heading towards Hermiston Gait.
Quick motor you've got.
You sneaked into the fast lane going onto the by-pass
That was the start of (well Grangemouth) a trip down to Gateshead to see my GF.
Down the A68 - great driving / overtaking road especially after Jedburgh.
The Scooby is just a MY03 WRX with dealer fitted PPP.
No other mods yet but Eibach springs on the cards.
Good fun motor but you pay in fuel (I think I left you for the Dreghorn Shell station!)
Anyway, nice to speak to you.
Maybe see you again.
Cheers
Derek

Hi Derek
I enjoyed the duel :-)
The Clio usually holds the standard MY03 WRXs in a straight line, but you were defintely quicker - so my suspicion that you had something extra was right (PPP) :-)
What does that increase the bhp to?
Glad your enjoying Scooby life :-)
Cheers
Kenny

Kenny,
the standard car is 225PS (222BHP)at 5,600rpm, and the PPP takes it to 265PS (261BHP) at 6,000rpm.
Torque is increased by 16% - 348Nm at 3,200rpm
Prodrive say that with the PPP it has more torque than the peak of the standard car from 2,750rpm right through to 6,250rpm!
Is the 172 standard? Any plans for mods?
Its always nice to have the occasional "duel"
Doesn't happen to me very often, but it makes a boring journey a bit more interesting.
Had an great one later that evening from about 3 miles north of Knowesgate on the A696 to said Knowesgate.
Stopped at roadworks - first in the queu, when two bikes sneaked in front of me.
Wasn't impressed.
They were definitely up for a bit of fun, but I had to keep easing off or I would have scratched my bumper.
Far too slow going into corners and far to slow coming out of them!
Didn't quite have enough road to get past them though.
Think the pressure was too much for them as they pulled into the side at Knowesgate.
Got a nice thumbs up from one of them though (or was it a finger)
Wonder when the next one will be?
Catch you later.

Yeah go for the upgrade!
Got mine PPP'd at 6,000 miles.
Gave me some time to get used to a the new car.
Had a MG ZS180 before and a 106 GTI before that.
Gradually getting there 120 bhp, 180bhp, 222bhp now 261bhp!
Did think about the Clio 172 after the 106 but never had a V6 before so went for the MG. - Great sound but looked too similar to the Rover 45.
Just some crude bits of styling added on.
New ECU for your 172 just when you're getting itchy feet, will give you a new lease of life.
It will also give some Scooby drivers a fright!
Enjoy your driving.
All the best.

Excellent times Frazer - a great incentive for me to upgrade
I did see your thread on the clio BB with Saxo boy - including the very dark video footage
Is the ECU upgrade covered by Renault warranty - similar to how Prodrive PPP is supported by Subaru?
Is so I'm definetely interested :-)
Did you get it done by a renault garage - which one?
I'm getting excited now ;-)
Cheers
Kenny
PS. On a seperate note I'm going to crail on the 26th - is that the one you're refering to Frazer?
