Ehhrrmm so it wasn't quite the perfect day! I didn't catch anything but I got a lot of bites as the midgies were out in clouds.
It took me 3 1/2 hours of pretty fast driving on excellent roads to get there. I will let you have a guess as to where it is. The ridge is pretty famous.

Skye?
I'm for Lewis/Harris in a few days. Was there any water? Any sort of numbers of salmon up? From what I hear they were very late even coming into the sea lochs on Lewis and I've no idea if they have made it into the fresh water at all.

Well Diablo and Hedgehog. that is the Cuillins in the background and I was fishing at the mouth of the Sligachan river.
No water there though we were trying for sea trout on the full tide. Best of luck with your attempts.

Just been getting some reports from Lewis/Harris and no one out there is seeing any salmon at all. Now I haven't heard from Amhuinnsuidhe so maybe things are better there but places that would be full of fish are reporting sightings of only one or two with little sign of any still in the sea either. Grimersta has the advantage of being able to create their own little spates and even so they are believed to have had only 30 fish so far.
Still, if you are heading that way in September be sure to give me a wave, in view of the conditions I will be in the Scoob parked by the trout loch!!

I have resorted to fishing in the sea where there are loads of fish jumping. Waiting for the spates to come. The barstewards aren't biting though. the trout haven't been co-operating either. maybe it is just me though.

All the reports I've heard from the islands seem to be uniformly bad, even for brown trout. Many of the keepers seem to be offering guests days fishing for mackeral or brown trout, bit of a cop out if you're paying £18K for a week for salmon. Seems that there are just no salmon.
Scoob related details: I know most people are into lowering their car however since I've moved to an STi8 from a MY99 I'm wondering if anyone does a "machine" that would increase the ride hight like that Porsche off roader thing can do? I'm pretty certain that the STi will not make it up the track to Scourst/Voshimid, though I know that the classic wagon like yours can do it. I like my Scoob, don't want to buy something else, don't want another car and find it as good on most tracks as the various "soft-roaders" but another inch or two in clearance would not go amiss. I would be nice to have a magic button.
