Don't think they are all activated yet
Or at least the old snooper is keeping very quiet at their presence...one at Liberton definetely not active

Oops !!!
The 2 on the A1 northbound set off the snooper this morning.
I also saw one single flash (at someone else) yesterday, also on the northbound side. I'm fairly sure all the Edinburgh ones are flashy ones though (ie not the nasty IR ones), so no flash should = no ticket.

The new ones will be active on Monday 16th June - Beware !
Now what was the speed you had to achieve for them not not detect you..... as demonstrated on last series of Top Gear?

I'll need to fit some diffusers to the Skyline I think !!
Reckon if we take a run up at the one at the top of Liberton Brae (from Mortonhall crematorium) and hope for a green light at the cross roads, then it should be feasible

Think Top Gear proved that U had to be travelling 156mph or fast not to set the Gatso off.
Take it easy in toen and enjoy yourself elsewhere, like Mr Clarkson did on last nights Top Gear.

Noticed yesterday that the police were fiddling with the one at Niddrie Mains road.
Wouldn't worry too much about getting flashed there though...i'm sure the police will understand that if you go below 60mph the locals will have yer wheels off !

I think they put down the strips and 'counting boxes' to work out where the most money will be generated - oops sorry, I mean most speeding occurs.
These seem to be scattered around lots of areas, so I imagine they're there to identify good places for cameras. Seems strange, as you'd think if they wanted to target accident hotspots, they'd just look at the accident stats !! It's almost like they're just trying to find places that people speed instead, even though (according to the stats) it's perfectly safe to do so there !! Weird !! Why would they do that ??
Be warned though - speeding over the strips could result in a camera appearing there shortly afterwards !!
I've never seen the strips AND a camera - has anyone ??

Certain I saw one recently, but not sure where. That's why I mentioned that they might be triggering the cameras. Wasn't in Edinburgh as I haven't been through there for a while. But then if the new Edinburgh Cameras don't have strips then that's that suggestion out the window.

Kart-man is right....
The strips are put there to produce stats to justify the ercetion of a cash generator
PS Off topic I know .... but I have noticed at Mortonhall/Howdenhall that lots of flowers have been placed on the left hand side of the road at someones's driveway I presume there has been a fatal accident but I never heard or read anything. Does anyone know what happened?
Condolences to anyone connected with the incident.

I was at the lights at Mortonhall just after the incident - a girl was knocked over (LRT bus involved I think) and unfortunately she died.
Don't think that that site needs a speed camera but I've seen many people go through the lights there very late so a traffic light camera would be a good proposition - however I'd be surprised if one of them was installed as surely they must generate less cash than a speed camera !

Dunno...think you'd be surprised how many people still get caught out with the traffic light ones..
Have seen quite a few flash at people, especially around Gorgie.
