Staff requ'd at Motorsport World
#1
We now have an opening date of 5 April for the new shop/showroom at Motorsport World. Things got delayed not least because Simon who works for me broke his wrist and he was lined up to do a lot of the work!
Anyhow, now its all systems go and again I'm looking for staff to help with the present mail order business and help in the shop. I've had a couple of expressions of interest from my last posting here but it looks like travelling distance is a problem (its still open to discussion though chaps!). We are in Strathaven and I'd ideally like to start someone before the 5 April. Pay is typical shop assistant level - £200 a week - but there will be scope to develop with the business as it grows.
If anybody is interested or knows of someone who may be interested please let me know
Cheers
Colin

Redkop,
I thought Colin was only looking to employ staff for his business. Maybe I'm wrong or I missed an earlier posting but I didn't see anything of that nature when I read earlier today.

Come on Moderators use a little common sense!!!! here is a guy who is trying to HELP this community!!!!! and even give someone the chance of job surely that cant be wrong and surely as a Moderator you canh use your discression on this occassion????
And to everyone else who reads this post start using the guys business if he has the products you need and his prices are competetive.
Good to see someone in Scotland trying to create a new venture, and I for one will be giving him my FULL SUPPORT!!!!!

Thanks Caz and Benview. And yes Amanda - you read between the lines! I'm finding it hard enough learning all the varieties of wheels - just as well Simon's half my age and seems to be pretty up on what's in and what's not.
Edited to remove commercial content, please contact the webmaster to arrange a banner ad or for a vendor account in the Scoobyshop. Sorry if this action seems harsh, but paid-for advertising helps Scoobynet pay its bills. Hope you understand my actions, Miles

I really have to say that actions taken by some moderators appears to verge on the Ridiculous!!!!! This is what makes Scoobynet sometimes a laughing stock of other sites. This guy was doing nothing wrong and IT IS NOT!!!! commercial advertising to offer someone a job he wasnt trying to sell anything he was offering someone a job for gods sake. moderator grow Up and get a life!!!! the thought Power Crazy suddenly springs to mind.

Benview - Don't be so hasty to jump to conclusions, mate. As you did not see what was changed, how can you pass comment? Scoobynet needs advertising revenue in order to survive. We as mods have been tasked to ensure that all posts containing commercial advertising are changed to adhere to this policy. I can assure you, no power trip here.
Hope you understand.

Miles I appreciate your comments and understand your loyalty to your fellow Moderator but the words COMMON SENSE spring to mind!!!. here is a guy wh
o has the B--ls to get of his A-se and try and start a new venture, he is looking for staff and trys to recruit from here what is wrong with that??? Have you ever thought that had he been given a fair hearing by the moderator that once established he may have wished to put a trade advert on Scoobynet??? I for one would not blame him if he ignored Scoobynet and I will support him by visiting his premises and if he is competetive I will buy. The aims of Scoobynet have to be to help its members however with the intervention by the Moderator this only seems to have upset people maybe you as Moderators should LISTEN to what the Members say as well sometimes??? We can all make mistakes the secret is to learn and I have to say my previous past experiences with SOME moderators is that they thing they are GOD!!! not the case at all without the members NO SCOOBYNET come on guys lighten up. These are purely my own Personal views and if you do not agree with them fine, I respect yours please respect mine even though you do not agree with them. Their is Blatant abuse by commercial companies in every forum within Scoobynet are you going to make one rule for some and one for another??? We are supposed to enjoy coming on here and sometimes it sucks

I have no issues with people trying to get staff, and It's an excellent idea to go here for potential recruits.
Asking for staff is not a commercial post. I saw the original and although it was posted up in ignorance it was still an advert for what the company sold.
The moderators are currently working really hard to try and get a set of guidelines done so that everyone will know what is and what is not ok in every forum.
Having your post editted is'nt a big deal IMHO, all it means is that you posted something that was against the way Scoobynet runs. It's not a personal slight against anyone, nor is it meant to start a flame war. It's just what it is, a gentle reminder of what the rules are.
I'll freely admit there are times when things get missed, or not acted upon. Because the mods are volunteers who try and squeeze things in with a job, daily and family life they will miss things.
We're trying to bring in new measures that will make things more consistant across the board. We know it's frustrating sometimes, and we get equally frustrated also(probably more than users do).
To sum up,
Looking for staff, great idea fine.
"Saying we offer this and that at great prices", an advert and not ok
I hope this has cleared things up.
I hope the venture really works and your customers find it as rewarding as you do run

Scooby Dooby Blue
Errrrr I very much doubt it, as I don't own a Scoob
Edited to say perhaps Redkop has a vested interest in TSL/Scoobysport/JW-Racing etc. as they flaunt the rules regularly and get away with it

Oh dear, I've caused quite a storm. I was only trying to let people know what we did and how we work in order to get some interest. Sorry if I overstepped the mark - I always get carried away when I describe my business because I'm very excited about what I've achieved so far.
I'll not be taking out advertising here - its extortionate. £150 per month and you sign up for 3 minimum. The big established and specialist companies can afford that but its beyond my budget. Even with a half page ad in True Grip we don't really get much Scooby parts sales. The profit from sales so far just pays for those ads - its a lot harder than people think. I'm just seeing it as an investment in the future. The few people that buy now will hopefully come back and tell their friends about us too.

Dome I think I sent you an email from the office - I'll check in the morning.
I'd like to thank all those who have shown interest in working at Motorsport World and all those who are keen to support me in my new venture
I now have my new member of staff but I'm still very interested in weekend workers once the shop is fully functional.
So, will the new member of staff stand up and be counted?

Dougster - yes! What's happening is that I'm taking on the unit that is next door to us next week to have the shop/showroom in. And the downstairs part of the present unit (the offices are on a mezanine) is having ramps installed for a fitting centre. I hope to get to the point of employing a mechanic some time in the summer.
Bladerider - yes again! A few people have suggested this. John Stevenson suggested having everyone meet here before a track day at Kames which is just along the road. I'm sure my 'new start' will be very helpfull in sorting something out...
Come to think of it, the new start is keeping very quiet aren't they... Hope my scruffy office didn't put them off...
