I wouldn't race a Type-R.
Not because I cant. Just everyone fancies a go - corsa's, escort's, mums and pram's, my granny in her wheelchair, next door neighbours kid with a remote control EVO. dear'o'dear?
Its far better to look and them and remain expressionless. No matter how much they badger you - just drive normally with a smile on your face. That makes then wonder a) are you mental b) what is the car capability? c)Why you dont race.

i found most type r's wont race when you push them....but when they fly out of nowhere and get a gooooooooood head start they seem to be up for it...172 clio taking a scooby...we talking a 5dr with a large and heavy wardrobe in the back!!!!!...may have been like the race i had when i thrashed a tvr chimera...mind you it was on a trailor at the time...still a close race though...

p1 tud - yeah mate. You'd be surprised though - it always seemed to be 7 series Beemers and Porsche drivers. Little boy racers acknowledged me which was cool & embarrassing.
Best though was having old gentlemen saying they used to have a Carlton 1.8 LX and was it 'much faster?' and what are all the 'extra body bits' on it?. Hehe! Ahh....the good ole days

Peeps having a go at scooby's I've found this not to be the case at all in my ownership! Peeps just aren't interested.
172 beating a scooby LOL. My VTS could hang with 172's quite well and suprise standard bugeyes by keeping the loss respectable. But that's it.....respectable! Once rolling a 'good' 172 might from say 60-100 stay with a poor bugeye but beating one isn't going to happen IMO. The CTR is a different matter. From 60-100mph a standard bugeye is in trouble and even a standard classic will have to earn its corn.
The problem is IMO the scooby can be a very temprimental (sp?) car. When I was coming down from Aberdeen today mines just wasn't interested and would have struggled to leave an on song hot-hatch. But, somewhere about dundee she gave a loud pop on a downchange and cleared her throat. After that is was flying Shame I wasn't playing with the P1 when it was pulling like that (you know who you are )

I love them lights! Only ever raced one car from them. It was a 1.8 mondeo and I felt like booting it so I pretended he wanted a race...which of course he didn't
Anyways, what's the story?

Well its funny how all the magazine reviews show quicker 1/4 mile times and quicker 0-100 times for a 172 against a standard bugeye... but hey they must be lying. And having had a 172 ive beat a few bug eyes. By the time you put the bug eyes 218bhp through the 4wheels drive is it going to pe puttin much more power on the road than a 172? And the clio is a lot lighter.

Who's got a standard scoob anyway?
I had a 180bhp 16v Cupra Sport and my scoob even in standard guise would piddle all over it.
Chris you bringing your little French snail to Kames/KH this year?

i got it...i know how the clio is a challenge..maybe you have to count to 172 before you go after it....now that is a race...i do happen to like the weee clio...fun and punchy..but not rude and raw...i like the ford ka as well...fun as hell..( it does give you a blood clot with centre consoul if your over 4ft tall though..)im not a one for the scooby eats all brigade..ok..i am..i pay'd enough to be blinkered...
