Finally got the nod from the Council to allow us to retail from the unit next door to us - ie open a shop! My next big step into the unknown....We'll be doing all the main performance things - exhausts, brakes, suspension etc

I aim to open it Jan/Feb next year and this, along with big fancy ads coming out in True Grip and other club mags in the next few months, means I'm thinking of more staff to cope with (hopefully) more demand.

The pay obviously ain't high being a shop assistant job but does anyone know of anybody in the Strathaven/Hamilton/East Kilbride area who would like and be good at a job like this. They would have to have a huge enthusiasm for cars, car mods and be good with the public both on the phone and face-to-face.

Might be interested... eletronics sector is dead around here ATM so would consider doing a job like this which I'm going to be enthusiastic about rather than the usual "gotta pay the bills" type job...

hi colin. i may be interested in weekend work. at the mo i work for arnold clark as a diagnostic technician covering every branch. i trained with mazda uk to get my qualification. i hope after all this i no a thing or 3 about cars and what to put on them. but then again its all 1 big learning curve. if you could give me details of where your going to be based etc that would be great.thanks for your time.

Seriously though - the pay will be about the same as lads get in typical car accessory shops - I can't afford more than that yet.

For general info - we are in Strathaven on the A71 - 7 miles west of Hamilton. We are presently in Unit 11 in the Hamilton Road Industrial Estate but this is just offices - there's nothing to see. However there is space for one set of ramps in there and that is where I aim to set up a fitting operation next year. But first I am taking on Unit 10 next door in January and that is where the showroom/shop will be.

Presently we work 9-6 weekdays but the shop will also be open Saturdays and perhaps Sundays unless the council have a problem with that - they are going to be 'monitoring' us...
