Have just run out of Octane Booster for my Sti2 which really needs it. Is there anywhere around Glasgow that sells it?

I'm tempted to get some in stock if I can get it at the right price. Would my Scottish compatriots be interested in a Scottish stockist?

Colin, what booster are you thinking of getting in stock? How about NF. I've tried a few different boosters and settled on that one because it's the only one I can notice a difference with, and although it seems expensive, it actually works out cheaper to use.

And now I'll finish my reply.....

Couldn't have been me Ricey - don't get out much unless the wife took a long road to Tescos again! You can tell us from the 2 massive wings on the back - std issue on sti's I think - haven't seen another one like it yet in Scotland. I'll try and track down the place at the mini centre - thanks.

Excuse my ignorance but what is NF, Bladerider? I might not know every product but what I'm good at is tracking things down and selling on at a 'sensible' price. Wait till you see my first ad in the SIDC mag!

And I'll certainly give you a shout Dougster - still trying to remember if you had the silver or green scoob?

It's been Millers I've used so far because that's what the big well established Scooby companies seemed to be selling. It might just be imagination but that with Optimax seemed to smooth out the engine and improve acceleration.

If there are better octane boosting products either in value for money or purely performance enhancing then I'd be very interested in feedback. I'm an enthusiast first and foremost and only want to stock and sell products I believe in.

Cheers!

Keep thinking Colin(about a white wagon) and you may remember me!

How did you get on with those contact numbers I gave you?(off-line response please)

Millers seems to be the booster of choice, NF good but could be footery.

You got premises or do you work from the house?

Ahhhh...yesss...we spoke about pads??..

Sorry m8 - must work out who the other guys were!

But then I sold discs n pads to a chap with a 5 door who I thought was you but his name turned out to be Billy. Sorry Billy!

Confused, you will be... watch next weeks exciting episode...(but then most of you guys will be too young to remember that phrase). Bear with me while I grow old! (gracefully - not!)

Anyway - I'm going to track down Millers tomorrow and do what I'm good at......... What's that? - getting a good deal for my customers (and me)!

On the subject of octane booster. Can you not buy a box of 10 - 250ml from ScoobySport (I think) for £33.80? I was going to get that, as the stuff I buy is a tenner from XS motorsport - cant remember name though (doh!).

I need to get some for my car also - down to a measly bottle.

Think I'll wander along to XS tomorrow - gives me an excuse to enjoy the road between here (Strathaven) and Hamilton. Scooby's awesome along the twisty bits! There's a 1 mile stretch of connecting corners just like a rally stage.....I'm sure all local Scooby owners must know it or if they don't they should find it

Thank you very much for the mention Robin
Sadly we do not have any branches in Glasgow, just the ones in Edinburgh.

Sharkey - we currently stock Wynn's Octane Booster, but would be happy to consider other brands should there be enough demand for them.

If you need more info, please mail (address in my profile) and I'll be very happy help.

I'll be away from my desk until Thursday, if you can wait until then or alternatively, ring 0131-5548505 and speak to Jackie.

Thanks very much

Cheers Billy

You know where we are...

AVA advised against booster so I filled up in the end with super unleaded Shell - couldn't get Optimax locally - and it pinked like crazy on full boost on the rollers. Looks like I've got a problem They said the last STi2 did the same thing. Will be taking it back filled up with Optimax and Millers to see what happens - they suggested reducing boost but that means power loss - not too keen on that

I remember the guys on the audi-sport.net site did a group buy on millers (direct from millers oils uk and imo the only booster worth using) and got it for £2 give or take a bottle. Might be worth arranging if enough of you guys use it....

I tried the NOS octane booster but did'nt like it , I now use silkoleene pro boost which I prefer. A tin costs £10 at d/p motorsport in ayr.

Silver Wings,
BP SUL consistently shows less knock than Shell Optimax on my APEXI PFC in the Skyline.

Worth a try mate.

Interesting, Jason

First time I've heard anyone saying something is better than Optimax

I think it's probably well worth while getting a knock sensor. My Powerchips supplier today told me that you could loose as much as 20bhp when the ecu picks up that the engine is knocking and switches to a 'retarded' ignition map.

Bladerider - you'll be interested to know that I'm buying stock of Nitrous Formula tomorrow. The European distributor actually approached me today - now there's a coincidence! And saved me the bother of tracking him down

Thought I might stock Millers too to give a choice.

I'll be putting the NF in my own car though They've been testing a 2.0 Pinto with 13.6:1 compression and 40 deg advance with no knock. 175 bhp with only a cam change is very impressive!

Oh, and to answer your earlier question, Dougster - no I have a Unit now. Worked from home until March this year - I set up Nov 2000 in the front bedroom as nearly all mail order companies do. I now have 2 full time staff too. The aim is to have a retail outlet at the unit early next year - and a fitting service.

You can read all about how my business came about in the next issue of True Grip - as far as I know they are going to run the editorial I sent in with my glossy ad

I think it will have to be at normal RRP I'm afraid which is £13 a bottle. I discount everything else but the margin for NF is tiny. Anyhow for Scottish customers there is a chance to save on delivery if you either visit us in Strathaven or see me at future events - I'm getting the car ready to have some decent fun on track - my new insurance company are much more mod friendly

Colin,
I've got to admit that the APEXi was tuned on BP SUL, this may actually be the reason that I get less knock rather than it being 'better' than Optimax.

I can only say from experience that ESSO SUL and Optimax give similar knock readings on the APEXi, and BP SUL is much lower.
