How about wearing a pint glass in your face?
Born in IOM but still a pict living in Glasgow, venturing north whenever I can.
Will ask Robbie the Pict for info but we don't really go for "fancy" dress.
Realistic, historical and I can help you.
Meant to say I was born on 30/11.

I need some help from any historians on the board......
Our works so-called christmas dance this year has a Roman theme (like toga, gladiator, lions, christians etc) and fancy dress is in order. It takes place on 30th Nov (i.e. St Andrew's Day), I'm a Scot but working in Middlesex. So my brain wave was to come along to the Roman Fancy Dress as a Pict / Gael / Celt whatever was living North of Hadrian's wall at the time And carrying a section of wall with "Romans go home" in Latin, Gaelic or summat.
I need a bit of help on the dress front - can anybody advise onwhat a 1st century AD dapper Weegie was wearing (i.e. what came pre-Kappa)?
cheers in advance, photo on the bbs in the 1st week of Dec!

Isn't there a couple of theories about where the name came from ??
One was to do with an egyptian pharoah discovering Ireland and calling it Scotia and later some of the people relocated up north and named it Scotland cos they were "scoti" people.
Another was something to do with an egyptian princess who had a daughter called Scota who married an Irish prince. This one is tied into the stone of destiny too.
