New clutch high bite????
Hi,
My mechanic has just fitted a brand new excedy pink box clutch and lightweight flywheel on my bug sti 6 speed! He is saying that the bite is still very high and is not sure why considering it's all new and it should bite low to floor??!Anyone got any ideas why ??? Will it settle? Is this common?
Thanks

I'm not 100 % but think you can adjust on the clutch pedal.
Mine was the same on newage bug.new clutch and same fairly high biting point.i think it is just the impreza way.
I thought like you, as all other cars when you change the clutch it brings the biting point down.

Anyone else got any experience with these clutches. Got the car back now and it does seem very high but pulls fine with no slipping??? I just can't understand how a new clutch and flywheel has such a high bite? Is this just common??

I got a stage 2 exedy competition stepper clutch put into my hawk sti in November last year, and I found it very difficult. The bite point was even higher than the knackered clutch before it, plus it was/is like a switch, on or off thats it. I had it rebled and checked and all was given as ok, but I still found it a problem drivin in town so the garage adjusted it - I think mainly just by taking peddle back, but it helped a lot and is much easier to drive now, though still pretty much on or off !!
So they can be adjusted even though I was told there is little adjustment can be done to them.
I saw somewhere that the master clutch cylinder rod can be replaced (shortened) to make it easier but I was told by the garage that this was not a good idea.
