You will need a full forged engine rebuild most likely and a td05 18g turbo mate

Impossible to say. Some fail as standard, some fail modified, some don't fail. Mine is now at 60k and 350bhp for last 3 years. I fully expect it to fail eventually.

Pretty much the same engine is mapped to 340bhp in the hatch and my11 saloon.

Get a good map done with one of the many well respected mappers out there. We've all heard of Simon Roe and Andy Forrest, for example.

Do remember that if you boost the power you are doing so on a car with an engine seven to eight years old that is known to suffer from piston and head gasket failures. They don't all go pop and I'm sure most won't but there are a few that will and do.

I have a PPP STi Spec D (316bhp) and ran it for for 44k miles before getting mapped by JGM to 358bhp. It went to 66k miles until HG went and is currently on 96k without any issues (Cossie HG and ARP studs). I do regret not getting it fully forged when the HG went but there were no signs of any piston / ringland damage at the time. I'm planning on keeping for a couple of years and will get forged this summer.
Good luck - some have better luck than me - others considerably worse!
Great car though - I love it.

My Spec D's head gasket went at around 75k miles about 3 years ago which I got fixed by API.

I had had the PPP kit fitted from new with allegedly 320bhp.

I had a look at my pistons which David removed whilst the engine was out and they were all but perfect. However, I bottled out and went for forged replacements which were relatively cheap as it was just the cost of the parts although the rings were more than I bargained for!! Still got the original pistons, so if anyone wants a set for a reasonable cost....

I've since had it mapped again by JGM to suit the pistons, gaskets and a replacement turbo which was apparently the same spec but different model and got just under 330bhp. Apparently, the turbo was the limiting factor but the car is much more drivable than it was on the PPP map. In fact the only reason I put up with it for so long was because I assumed they were all like that and there was no option. I would have preferred it being tweaked a little more to improve drivability but couldn't get JGM to respond.

Hope that helps towards your decision to convert the owner to 350bhp
