Manufacturers cat needed to pass an MOT?
According to my MOT tester, aftermarket sports cats do not cut the mustard anymore. It has to be a factory fit cat, not for emissions but for the visual check.
Luckily I've known him for a while so he let me off on the underatanding that I fit an original.
Has anyone else experienced this or have access to the current mot proceedure?

doesn't say it has to be a manufacturers cat just that it needs to have one

Recently had mine MOT'd and I took along a print out of the spec from Litchfield show that the exhaust system was as supplied and he was happy with that.
Did take some warming up though to pass the emissions test as it was up at 450 when the cat / engine was cold. At least he knew enough to get things nice and warm before hitting the 'record' button. The car gave a huge pop and crackle as he dropped it to idle too.
