Anybody Helicoiled Brembos?
I recently stripped the caliper mounting bracket on my brembos, and i bought a new set of a trader on here, now my question is is it worth helicoiling the old ones and selling them on? would a helicoil be reliable enough to hold the caliper. any thoughts?

nope, timesert is solid wall. helicoil is just singular wound strand.
timesert is more expensive, i had to import from states, but dont have to worry about catching and you can saw timserts to length.

Helicoiled my old ones to coarser thread than Subaru standard. I think I did them to M12 x 1.75 rather than M12 x 1.5. I think the Evo Brembos are M12 x 1.75 as standard and they don't strip threads as often as the Subaru ones do. Also you can pick up new bolts at any fastening company.

Yes.....it's to do with bimetallic corrosion.
The bolt is steel, the caliper is alloy, when damp, together they make a tiny electrical cell, which effectively eats away at the steel, and it swells.
Then, when you try and remove it, it "takes up" the threads in the alloy.
But of course, Brembo, being a quality product, know this might happen, so they design their calipers with inserts........oh.....wait....

I am a machinist to trade and often helicoil brand new aluminium components as par for the course, this gives a stronger and harder wearing thread than just plain aluminium.
