Red face Alert: New Chav Scammer - Gary Mac - 07513159942 - Gaz Mac, Belfast

Some of you may of been following threads on some of the Subaru parts pages on Facebook, so you already know, but seems we have a new chav scammer infiltrating the Subaru fraternity.

He goes by the name of Gary Mac

and his 'business' JDM Subaru Specialist Parts, based in Northern Ireland.

It seems he has been selling fake Defi's for a while on many of the pages, and now he has been taking large amounts of money for things like Brembos, bumpers etc without supplying the goods. Many people are seriously out of pocket and he has done a runner, taking down his Facebook business pages. His user one might still be there, he has a lovely photo of either himself three cigarettes in his gob and a lovely tracksuit, and another with him topless with his spray on six pack and his location is Belfast.

So be on the look out!

Frankly if you are prepared to gift money to that man then perhaps you are partly to blame!! He sounds a treat!

lol, the tracksuit wearer.

Anyone who uses the tracksuit for daily wear or thinks it's some kind of fashion accessory is a chav to me.

Tracksuits are for sporting activities, end of.

Get some pics up! I think he was banned from Scooby Ireland for advertising someone elses stuff before he actually bought it off them, or something like that.

I saw his ads on Facebook selling the Defi gauges. I got no response when I asked him if they were genuine or not.

Putting his phone number in to google surrounded by quotation marks throws up a fair few adverts: "07513159942"

He has used gumtree, facebook, scoobyireland, bbs.22b, uk.subaruownersclub,

Also goes under the name GazWRX sometimes.

Nice one fella, Ive let some of the guys know who he has ripped off about his number and forums activities.

One thing that really pisses me off is people ripping others off.

Haha true fact. Apparently he told one of the guys he ripped off that he had 'taken his girlfriend out with the money' so he couldn't refund just yet.

Somebody on here must know where this scum lurks? sorry, lives?

That user looks like it's someone totally different. They have been on here since 2005 and they aren't from Ireland.

There was a warning about this guy on the Facebook page Subaru UK and Ireland a couple of weeks ago. Seems it went unheeded.
The feelers are out here in n.i for some contact details.

Yep, I was surprised at the amount of interest his so called Defi gauges garnered. Even though I quizzed him about the veracity of his claims and he failed to answer, there were people falling over themselves to buy the gauges
It's good to know fellow enthusiasts are on the lookout. This is the community spirit in action. I hope those scammed get some recompense and this scumbag gets his comeuppance!

he sounds lovely i almost bought a prodrive diff guard from him on facebook but gave it a miss after he wouldnt budge on the £250 price tag

the guy he robbed with the brembo's he sent him an invoice which just shows up on paypal as an invoice to be paid and when he rang paypal it had been sent as a friends or family invoice so could not claim a penny back

paypal is a joke at times to be honest

Kind of feel sorry for the buyers but paypal isn't to blame
when someone sends a gift payment to a scammer.

Only use the gift option if you know someone personally
or you can afford to lose the money.

Just to clear something up...

I don't know how he did this, but this chav managed to send a paypal request to the guy as a friends and family request. It dosent come up any differently on the invoice (ive seen the actual invoice), so the money was just paid as an invoice.

Obviously PayPal could be held partly accountable, but PayPal, eBay, Gumtree (all same company) have cast iron systems that they can never be held accountable - they dont even have a complaint line or email address - with ebay you have to WRITE a letter to a PO box in switzerland to complain They basically have their own law.

Yes the guy should of checked all details, but you know, we have to have a little faith in humanity sometimes!

So yes using GIFT isnt a good idea unless you know the person, but we should also not to be expected to be ripped off by another 'enthusiast', but yes seems to be 'Rip Off Britain' is becoming more of the mainstream. Sad times.

Personally although I generally dont advocate violence whatsoever, a little bit of old school punishment would teach this chav a thing or two. He probably already has a selection of Asbos that he put in frames on his wall, so anything the police will do is probably minor.

However, if he does work for Audi, the exposure would be excellent and he might lose his apprenticeship (if that is genuine) which would be an excellent reward for being a crook.

Unfortunately, using paypal as a buyer AND seller is a no-win situation.

I've spoken to several traders who are losing money through ebay/paypal due to fraudulent buyers who buy a part, claim its faulty and return their old one for a refund. Once the part is signed for the money is refunded, even if you get a box of fresh air.

On the other hand, if a payment is made as gift/services the buyer has no cover at all and in this case its cost someone a large portion of £.

Im a member on several forums/facebook etc and the best way i've seen things done is that ALL for sale threads MUST have a photo of the item and included in the pic is the users name and the date. This eliminates people attempting to sell parts they dont have, or reduces the risk somewhat.

In this case, it appears the seller doesnt actually have any parts. He takes orders in then tries to source the bits elsewhere. Someone mentioned on facebook that he was buying items and getting them sent to other people, never delivered to himself.

Quite right, I have been stitched up with the return of their 'faulty' part after sending my brand new one out, and PayPal refunded without question.

Yes I know Edition38 do that with the photos, I think that should possibly be implemented into the forum rules on here? Mods could you have a look at this?

Bank transfer I think is the only way to go now, PayPal is just to volatile and the scum no how to use their system to their advantage.

Yeah looks to be the case....and whatever parts he cant source, he just keeps the money for himself. Bloody nice guy.
