I love my 2010 WRX Hatch but it's just a bit too quiet, a friend of mine has suggested replacing the centre exhaust section (with the cat) with a straight through pipe something like in the attached link I guess. But would this make it silly loud, would it need remapping and lastly would it get through an MOT, thanks in advance...

It'd make it a tad louder and it'd get through the mot I suspect, a map probably isn't 100% needed but it's highly advisable to get the best power and safe AFR from the mod.

I replaced the up-pipe cat on my 2003 WRX and it still flew through the MOT without a map. I'm not sure if the 2010 WRX has the up-pipe cat but taking mine off and replacing with a ported and wrapped de-catted up-pipe gave the car a lovely growl past 4,000 revs.

Changing the back box for a better one will make it rumble and no need for a map
