Default P1 idle problem

Hi folks my p1 once warmed up doesnt idle very well at all and i think its the idle control valve! Whats the best thing to clean the valve with or am i best off just getting a new one? Where is the best place to get one and does a normal wrx classic shape engine have the same idle control valve?

Thanks,

Ry

Try cleaning it - worked on my 99.

Remove the electrical plug, Undo the two screws and pull out the piston.
Clean the piston and inside the bore with a damp cloth or a bit of brake cleaner if its really bad.

Just remember the small rubber washer on the end of the piston - its very easily lost / broken and the ICV won't work without it.

I took my whole throttle body off, dismantled it, cleaned it thoroughly, and it peers now. As SCOOBY TOWERS mentioned, be careful you don't lose, damage the rubber washer!

Bad idle could also be an engine ending maf issue! Make sure you solve the issue before driving hard!
