Default Fitting a dump valve

Probably got the wrong type of attention for this...

Bought a 2005 Sti but it has a VTA dump valve and is not running the best. I have a standard re-circulating valve here, is it just a straight swap over? I have had a search this morning but can't see any how-to threads.

If I swap this, will I have to reset the ecu to get the car running decent again? Or will it sort itself out? I am a bit nervous about removing the battery in-case the alarm does something funny or the pin doesn't work.

You wont have to reset the ecu mate and wont have to diconnect the battery.

Easy enough job to do.dont damage the gasket between the dv and intercooler.

Glad to see you've gone for a recirc!
Please let us know how you like it after? I had a VTA i picked up cheap and it was on the car for all over 30 mins till i took it off...piece of rubbish!!

Simple to change..no need to disconnect anything electrical. Just literally undo bolts and hose, pop old off..new on and jobs done. Might be worth WD40 or some grease on the bolt threads before you put them back in to the intercooler also - more of a preventative thing really.

Just check it isn't an adjustable item such as the GFB item that can be switched to full recirc.

If so, it is a straight swap but you may need a new gasket.

I'd recommend removing the intercooler (simply unbolt it) to get the clearance you need to mess with the hoses.

Oh and sell the old DV on eBay or items on here...

I have removed the forge VTA and put on the standard re-circ. My god what a difference! Acceleration is so smooth now on part throttle, gearchanges much improved too. The car drove like a bag of shyte compared to what it's like now!

Well almost... I seen the coolant was a bit low, and my heart has sank. I will have to keep a very close eye on it, but it all seemed great on test drives. The temp hasn't got past half way and I have done about 150 miles since last night, heaters blow on hot too. I hope to god it isn't a head gasket! Getting the car looked over by a specialist next Monday, can't come soon enough to put my mind at rest.
