Default Someone's tried to nick my alloys

Not on the scoob but the 206!
2 locking wheel nuts have been sheared off

Will these be able to be drilled out?

If there is a little bit of thread stuck out you may be able to undo them with a pair of molegrips or pliers, with the wheel off they should turn freely due to no pressure on them.

Especially if they've had a bit of copper grease on them in the past

Worth a try anyway

They use wheel studs dont they?
As in a bolt that screws into the hub? I cant remember

So do you mean rounded off, or actually sheared/snapped off?

There is nothing left to grab on to! It's totally flat! Only 2 wheels been attempted.
Think ill have to find someone to drill them out and get new ones

Could try tapping them round with a punch an hammer. But if they are seized in to have sheared off then probably not!

Btw if they had done the hard bit and got the lockers off, how come they never nicked the wheels?

Can also try welding a socket to the stud / nut if you have enough clearance.

How could they get the wheels off when the thread is still in there?
Is it not safe to drive now then?

Basically the head of the bolt is gone. The thread is still in the alloy. There is nothing to grab on to to twist it out. Would kwik fit for example be able to drill it out so I can get this sorted tomorrow whilst at work?

This is confusing me. Do you have nuts or bolts? And if the lockers were taken off, why did they leave the wheels. Makes no sense

So take the other bolts out and wheel off and you'll have enough thread to remove the remaining thread.

Eh? I thnk a picture will speak a million words in this case.

On the broken one, can you see the actual threaded part of the stud?

If so, take the other 3 studs out and the wheel will come off. Then you can try screwing M12? Nuts on and locking them together and trying to undo it that way

Get some pics up.

Ps if two of your locking wheel nuts have snapped off, and there are no marks on the wheel or signs of an actual theft, then it could possibly just be that they have been over tightened and sheared off.

If you cant do anything yourself, then driving carefully to a local garage will be fine, so long as the other 3 are tight.

My neighbours car was attempted just before Xmas. I paid no attention to it until I washed the cars today and noticed 2 bolt heads were missing like snapped off. Surely 2 wouldn't just fall off!
I have driven the car a good 200 miles since their car was done!
Ill carefully drive to halfrauds and kwik fit tomorrow and see what they can do for me! Will take. Pic tomorrow and show exactly what I mean but to me it looks like some little fits have done this.

I couldn't think of two worse places to take your car to for something like that (or anything for that matter).
Cant you just jack it up and use pliers (or vice grips) to turn the bolt threads out ?

Kwik and halfords will not touch it. Try a garage or a local tyre place, am sure they seen plenty of cars with same problem. I had this on my bmw, took it to a tyre fitter and they sorted it without any problem

Will upload photos in a bit.
For quickness going to halfords for locking wheel nuts, will take it to a little tyre place on Thursday to get sorted hopefully.
Think I may stick 2 sets of lockers on it!

Fair bit if corrosion, looks like it's been done a while, doesn't look like it's been snapped off though, might just be the angle...

In fact are you sure they're damaged/broken etc? There's no damage on the alloy and they look from memory like the ones on my 306 did...

Ah, ok. If all else fails slacken the other 3 and drive around a carpark SLOWLY in circles and it might loosen it off enough to undo with fingers when the other 3 are tight again.

They others do t look like this! I think anytime from just before Xmas to yesterday it could have been done.
Will play it safe and take to a garage to sort for the sake of a few quid. I don't have access to a jack so can't do anything this end!
Just happy that the scoob lives in the garage!

do the others have a metal cap pushed on tho, that you take off to give access to the locking wheel nut?.

but as you said, get it a garage and go from there.

ps have you taken the wheels off before? might pay to have a quick look at the locking wheel nut key.

Are you utterly positive that's not the locking wheel nut? From the pics it looks like it is tbh and the lock nut key will have 4 spikes inside that locate in to them holes you see. only mention it as it's odd to have 2 snapped bolts with 4 holes near enough identically placed on both bolts if you catch my drift. As said above May be worth checking your locking nut and checking too see if the other locking bolts on the car have covers over them which may be causing confusion?

That is absolutely the locking wheel nut. You just need the key for it.
