Default Need people's thoughts on a part from eBay

Hey people. I'm currently still in the hunt for a de-cat uppipe for my 2005 wrx. I've seen these on eBay and I'm not 100% on whether to go for it or not, here's the link
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Imp...-/360826420073

So, what do we think, should I go for it or stay clear? Has anybody got any experience with these, good or bad? Where else is there to look or can anyone find me a better option. I'm also on the market for a de-cat down pipe if anybody knows of any. It won't be until the 21st of the month that I will be another to get it.
Hope someone can help.

avoid, if on a budget go for either a classic up-pipe or a newage sti up-pipe, if you have more to spend speak to AS performance and get a Harvey up-pipe.

Unfortunately I'm on a budget. It's tough trying to find one. I didn't know that the classic pipe would fit. Is there any mods that have to be made our does it go straight on?

only the 2.0 WRX cars from 2001-2005 have that 'pre-cat' up-pipe fitted............
the problem you will find with those flexi joint pipes is that you will actually delay the turo response as they are too large a diameter and simply increase spool times

you'd be far better off fitting either a std up-pipe from a classic/new-age STi or simply leaving as is until you save some cash for a properly designed set-up

Try a few of the breakers mate mattyb or scoobyspares the standard newage sti up pipe is catless get one of them take the heat shield off (they are common for rattling) and heat wrap it just make sure you use genuine gaskets

I've decided to go with a Harvey Smith tricked uppipe at the end of the month. It's got to be worth the extra money. The problem I then have is that I won't be able to Grey it re mapped until the following month after fitting it due to funds. Will this cause any issues.

That's good to know. I'm thinking shirt a de-cat down pipe as well before Grey it re mapped. How greatly will I benefit from this.

Also, I know I should probably start another thread for this but what sort of mileage should I be expecting from a full tank on my 05 wrx. I've only had the car a month and the best I've managed from full down to the light coming on is around 260 miles. Does that sound right? What effects will mapping have on this?

Why not wait and fit it when you can afford the map? Yes I'd decat downpipe at the same time.

As far as mpg, I used to get between 260 and 290 on my wrx but that was without mods and never let the light get on. I then mapped to 280, mpg dropped but that was more to do with the car becoming a weekend toy then rather than my daily.

I'm only asking about fuel to see if it's running right or not. I'm not supposes by the fuel usage. What's the difference in gains between sport cat and de cat down pipe?

To answer your question, yes that's about right.
Best to work out your mpg to be sure.

I get between 250 and 300 miles per tank before the light comes on in my 05 WRX. 23-30mpg roughly.
