Thanks I checked mine tonight and I couldn't get 0.008" in any of the exhaust and only 2 at 0.008" in the inlet , fetched some smaller gauges on the way home to check the inlet again tomorrow

I take it you are aware of the sequence while doing this and you are using the 4 cam shaft positions?

Set cam angle and measure
#1 cylinder intake valve and #3 cylinder exhaust valve.
Rotate cams and measure
#2 cylinder exhaust valve and #3 cylinder intake valve.
Rotate cams and measure
#2 cylinder intake valve and #4 cylinder exhaust valve.
Rotate cams and measure
#1 cylinder exhaust valve and #4 cylinder intake valve.

No clearance and the valves will not be seating on the valve seats - is this on the cylinder you have low compression ?
The easiest way to check the clearances is to set the lobe of the cam opposite to the bucket as seen in the picture (right hand lobe is set to check the clearance)

Yes mick it's one valve on each piston with the miss fire , and yes mate that's how I was checking them with the lobe opposite the bucket
