You won't notice any difference and may be gain 2-3bhp once mapped. Unless you are plus 400bhp, I'd spend £40 on 10 standard filters and change them every 5000 miles or so.

once you have bought a k+n filter though,you can just pop it out whenever you like.clean it and pop it back in and it will cost you nothing.so in the long run depending on how long you keep the car it could be cheaper buying a k+n filter.

Now I can change the filter in under a minute and I know that it is good for 5k miles or so.
These day, I service my car and then carry on with my life. Sod all that that waiting around.
