A few weeks ago there was a debate with regards to SUL and will there be a mpg improvement. I have used it for the last 7 tanks.
On normal unleaded i was averaging about 18.8mpg. After allowing 3 tanks for the ecu to reset itself i am now averging 20.8 mpg. By my thinking thats an improvement of 2 mpg.
So if i fill with: unleaded. 13.2 gallons at £3.40 = £44.88
: SUL . 13.2 gallons at £3.59 = £47.39
It costs £2.51 extra for the SUL. But if i'm getting 2 mpg gallon more then 2 x 13.2 (gallons)=26.4 extra miles per tank of SUL which is a gain of about 1.27 gallons.
So 1.27 gallons of normal unleaded is £4.32 Take off the extra which SUL costs per tank (£2.51) and i have a gain of £1.81 per tank.
In conclusion i have a car with slightly better pickup, using better fuel for the engine and i'm saving money. The choice is yours!

Pete,

I agree, but I think the goverment are the ones that should be dropping the price. This is fact: £1000 goes to the treasury EVERY second thanks to us motorists. That my friend is daylight robbery when you consider the services we get in return..Blutes

78.9p for Optimax in Donny, 22 mpg on NUL & 19 on Optimax; but I think that's due to constantly trying to feel the difference (MY01)
