Does the widetrack blob have one or two camshaft position sensors, and is it located near the crankshaft position or at the back near the intercooler?

I need to figure out why my avcs doesnt seem to be working so would like to replcace this just for peace of mind.

seems to be two sensors on this model, on the rear of each cylinder head.

 

There are 3 sensors, one near the dipstick and one at the rear of each cylinder head. I had an engine warning light come on last year , I can,t remember the code now but it was a camshaft sensor. I changed all 3 but the warning light stayed on. It turned out to be water in the multiplug near the driver side of the rear cylinder head. Steve.

have you had a fault code for the sensors on the cams or is this purely speculation, reason i ask is that a common fault with the neutral position switch on the gearbox has been linked to avcs issues

Yes its purely speculation, will be checking the avcs banjo for filters, and removing the oil control valves to spray with brake cleaner/wd40, thought I ight aswell change the camshaft position sensors aswell just rule them out.

Car had a neutral position switch back in October, but didnt make much difference. She is being mapped on the 14th, dont want any issues occuring during the map.

 

come to think of it, problem happened straight after an oil change, disconnected the crank shaft sensor, reconnected and cleared the CEL, avcs never came back on after that.

Engine is fine as had a leak down test done, and did a compression test myself.
