I used to own a 96 UK, (now MY99! ) so I know quite a lot about what to look for mechanically on the car.
What should the WRX have? Low level wing, gold wheels, interior etc? Also, does it have the bigger turbo as the UK model?
Help or any pointers appreciated.

Didn't think WRX's had waterspray until they got the STi treatment?

FiveO, are you sure thats on a 96WRX, rather than a 96WRX STI?
It should have air con, elec door mirrors, rear wiper. ABS was not std but an option. It should have an ally bonnet and boot lid - thats easy to test if you're used to lifting a UK bonnet .
Best thing to do is go to the SIDC FAQ, on there is a table of import model codes. Check this against the code in the engine bay on the plate near the passenger suspension strut.
The date on the label on the seat belts also gives an indication of the MY.
Hope this helps
