Default New owner needs help

Hey people...

I've recently got my first Scooby, a 52 plate bugeye WRX... And I love it!

But I was parking today and noticed a knocking sound While reversing, about a quarter turn right hand down, I braked and heard a metallic knocking sound. Two distinct knocks, the first louder than the second. Appeared to come from the front O/S corner.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any advice...

Toby

It could be the brake pads moving in their housing.

I had a Bug eye WRX years ago that did it. I took it to the Subaru dealership I bought it from and they said that when you brake the discs pull the pads forwards a little.

Then when you reverse they are pulled back and make a clunking sound.
It does no harm to caliper or pad. I accepted the explanation as it seemed logical and carried on. I had no problems.

I had a similar clunking sound from the brakes on my Bug WRX when transitioning from forward to reverse movement.

Yeah that seems logical... Especially as when I went forwards and backwards a few times is happened every time. Yet they're all good one the road.
My first performance car and first boxer so I'm trying to diagnose every little noise lol

Thanks guys!

As above you do get clunking sometimes when going into reverse with the pads in the caliper housing.SJ.
